Congrats to Kansas for being named the Most Improved State in the Safe Routes Partnership’s Making Strides report! Our project team has been working with Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) to relaunch its Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program, administer SRTS planning and programming grants, and develop SRTS plans for communities throughout the state. In 2024 alone, five cities have completed a SRTS plan, covering education and encouragement campaigns to infrastructure recommendations drawn from walk audit observations. We're proud to support these efforts to help more Kansas students and families walk, bike, and roll safely to school. Learn more about KDOT's SRTS Program: https://lnkd.in/gnYYFUyF

Us: Why do you like TVM? Scholars: Because there’s no boringness! In TVM, Mahea Gaskins has all the scholars say “We are allergic to boring!” Our method of family #engagement attracts parents to be involved in their child’s learning experience. This creates the bridge to then engage families in the #school and #community. That’s the goal! Research has proven that when parents are more active and engaged with their child’s academic journey…the behavior, attendance and grades improve as well. This is just one of the differences that partnering with a full-service community building organization provides.
The Village Method (TVM) is a strategic partner for school districts, designing sustainable, holistic educational solutions. Through programs like ScholarPrep Nation, ASHE, and First Teachers Collaborative, TVM offers end-to-end service from strategic planning to implementation, significantly reducing administrative burdens for our partners. This is a Win, Win, Win! The community, school and (most importantly) the children all WIN with our Community Builders Initiative. Let’s do it again!

I'm sharing my letter to the IPS school board urging a moratorium on new innovation charter schools and a deeper look at their impact on our district. As an IPS alum and parent, I've seen firsthand the decline of thriving community schools and strong magnet programs. We need to prioritize a strong IPS for ALL students. Here's the situation: -IPS is becoming the 2nd-most privatized school district in the US, with tons of new innovation charter schools. -This rapid growth is hurting existing IPS schools, causing lower enrollment and less resources. -We need to stop and evaluate the impact of these charters before adding more. What you can do: 1. Sign the Petition - https://lnkd.in/gWnMmHNM 2. Find your IPS school board commissioner https://lnkd.in/gAbzx9ZA. Write them a letter sharing YOUR story and why you're concerned about more charters. Let's fight for a strong, accountable IPS that invests in our students' education!

Executive Producer @ Scope & Sequence | Messaging Strategist | Policy Education | Author of Fair is Fair - A children's book
In this video that Scope & Sequence created with Beacon Center of Tennessee, we tackle the questions: What are charter schools and who are they for? Turns out there are a lot of misconceptions. I learned a bunch from working on this video. I think if we were to remake this video today, I might swap the term "Public School" with "Government School" Per what I've gleaned from Corey DeAngelis. #charterschools #schoolchoice #spn #publicschools #educationpolicy #doe #educationreform #explainervideo #mythbusters

Proud that we on the Board of the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition have endorsed Prop L, Fund the Bus! Prop L will help generate meaningful revenue for San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) that will prevent Muni service cuts and expand Muni service, especially to parks, libraries, and schools, by increasing route frequency, expanding route, and/or adding new routes. This is only one of the first steps that San Francisco must take to be a city that prioritizes transit and enables a future that is "people-first, climate-resilient and economically vibrant" – but it is a step in the right direction. https://lnkd.in/g6DimXsP

social impact leader | systems thinker | civic collaborator | creative problem-solver | change agent | building communities that work for all
Love the commitment to action. First: listen to the perspectives and experiences of the people you’re designing for. Next: commit real resources to test those ideas. Future: scale up what works.
High impact collaborative executive public sector leader with proven track record of leading large scale change within complex systems in partnership with stakeholders.
Amazing things start to happen when young people voices and needs are centered in creating programs that are aimed at supporting them. Kudos to ECMC Group, GREATER MSP Partnership and others for creating a space to hear youth and then taking ideas to action. This Co-Lab is one of the strategies that is being tested. I am grateful to serve as an advisor to the work and increase connections in our community. And I am thrilled that City of Saint Paul and Ramsey County is home to this pilot!
