Impressive study, but let's not get carried away just yet. A 73% accuracy for ChatGPT versus neuroradiologists’ 72% is essentially a statistical tie, not a knockout win. The 80% accuracy with neuroradiologist reports makes sense—better input, better output. The real question is: can AI maintain such consistency across more complex cases, or will it falter without carefully curated data? Ultimately, AI as a second opinion is promising, but I’m not rushing to replace any radiologists just yet. Human expertise still adds layers of judgment and context that models like GPT-4 can’t replicate—yet. #AIinMedicine #RadiologyInnovation #FutureOfDiagnostics

Management of sporadic INTRACANALICULAR VESTIBULAR SCHWANNOMAS (ICVS): A critical review and International Stereotactic Radiosurgery Society (ISRS) PRACTICE GUIDELINES Anne Balossier et al., Neuro-Oncology, December 2023 https://lnkd.in/dbqAuqy7 A systematic review and meta-analysis: 40 studies were included, accounting for 2371 patients with ICVS that opted for one of the following management strategies: *Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) *Microsurgical Resection *Conservative Surveillance -TUMOR CONTROL was 96% and 65% in the SRS and the Conservative Surveillance groups, respectively (P < .001) -Need for FURTHER TREATMENT was reported in 1%, 2%, and 25% for SRS, Microsurgical Resection, and Conservative Surveillance, respectively (P = .001) -HEARING PRESERVATION was reported in 67%, 68%, and 55% for SRS, Microsurgical Resection, and Conservative Surveillance, respectively -Persistent FACIAL NERVE DEFICIT was reported in 0.1% and 10% for SRS and Microsurgical Resection series, respectively (P = .01) Conclusions SRS is a NON-INVASIVE treatment with AT LEAST EQUIVALENT rates of TUMOR CONTROL and HEARING PRESERVATION as compared to Microsurgical Resection, with the caveat of better facial nerve preservation. 𝐓𝐋;𝐃𝐑: We use Transcutaneous Electrical Spinal Cord Stimulation (TESS) to induce wide-spread cortical inhibition as a conditioning state prior to longitudinal upper-limb BCI training in order to constrain the neural dynamics and promote focal and strong volitional sensorimotor rhythm (SMR) modulations. What an important read on the day-to-day experience of living with low vision.      From being unable to recognize a loved one’s face, to reading a book and finding the words blurry even with glasses, low vision can disrupt one’s sense of normalcy and everyday routine.      And because it doesn’t happen overnight, it can be hard to detect initially.
