The first finalist in our Lean Transformation of the Year Awards is HGH Granite Inc. based in Ontario, Canada and with the help of their Production and Quality Specialist Keshia Carron they have gone from strength to strength with some amazing results. - Implementation of standard work has facilitated cross-training and resulted in a double -digit (~ >20 %) reduction in internal qualify defects and associated rework hours. - Implementation of visual management in the Yard has helped with inventory organization. - Improved scheduling process and information flow from front office to the shop floor has resulted in a substantial (> 50 %) reduction in back-orders. - Weekly production meeting, production lean daily leadership meeting and monthly KPI review has provided clear visibility to daily, weekly, and monthly operational performance and improved communication and alignment. - A new lean facility layout design with a cell when implemented will help with improved flow and reduce work-in-process (not quantifiable yet as the expansion is in process).
