Maternal mortality remains a global challenge. Data from the World Health Organization suggests that a significant number of women worldwide continue to face risks during pregnancy and childbirth. This brings into focus the urgency of reducing maternal mortality by 2030, as per the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Many informal women workers are disproportionately affected by this as they often lack access to essential public healthcare services. Their challenges highlight the need for targeted interventions to ensure their health and safety during maternity. This National Safe Motherhood Day, let's aim to safeguard the lives of mothers across the globe. Through the promotion of inclusive policies, raising public awareness, and encouraging community involvement, we can pave the way towards a future where safe motherhood is a reality for every woman. #NationalSafeMotherhoodDay #informalwomenworkers #maternalhealth #healthcareforall #SEWABharat

I help women reduce Pelvic Organ Prolapse bother non-surgically. Educator focused on Pelvic Floor Muscle Functional Training. Women's Pelvic Health & Musculoskeletal Physio at PelvicExercise4U.com & Innovative Physio
A recent Victorian Government survey highlighted that 50% of women report ongoing health issues due to pregnancy and birth complications😳 As a Pelvic Health Physio I strongly advocate for Medicare to include funding for Pelvic Health Physiotherapy for all pregnant and postpartum women✅ This critical service is essential for empowering women to prepare their bodies for pregnancy and birth, focusing on the rehabilitation of pelvic floor and abdominal cylinder muscles during the crucial first 3 to 6 months postpartum🤰 It is vital that every woman, following either Vaginal or Caesarean delivery, receives Pelvic Health Physio. 🤔This evidence based therapy is key for maximising closure of the Vaginal opening with Pelvic Floor Muscle Training to best support the pelvic organs, bladder & bowel continence. ✅Rehabilitating the deep abdominal cylinder muscles for ideal pelvic orientation to support the pelvic organs, lower back & pelvis, aiding women in coping with the physical and mental demands of motherhood. #pelvichealth #pelvicfloorphysicaltherapy #pelvicorganprolapse #pelvicpain
To our VIC-based Community We know first-hand that women face real and life-altering challenges when seeking care and support for pain. In a recent survey published by the Victorian Government, 50% of women said that pregnancy and birth complications continued to impact their health. It's exactly what we have been saying for years, and it was further highlighted in our 2022 Birth Injuries Report. Our community frequently tells us that they were not believed or were told their symptoms were 'normal' when seeking support for ongoing physical symptoms after birth. So let's make some noise about it. The Inquiry into Women’s Pain is now accepting written submissions that will help inform future models of care and service delivery. The Inquiry will listen to the voices of girls and women across all walks of life, as well as clinicians, researchers and health service organisations. The U.S. has one of the highest maternal mortality rates, and Black women are disproportionately affected. We can’t sit back and accept this. Today kicks off #BlackMaternalHealthWeek, a time to bring attention and action to improving Black maternal health. ☑️ At Florida Blue, we’ve created a maternal health equity dashboard to better identify disparities and determine where to deploy solutions and resources. ☑️ We’re piloting solutions at the local level that can be scaled more broadly across the state. ☑️ And we’re partnering with providers to connect members with community-based resources and support. Together, we can all serve as a voice for Black women before, during and after pregnancy, and help change the trajectory of maternal health outcomes in our country. #BMHW #BMHW24 #BlackMaternalHealthWeek

Health equity means ensuring every Black mother in Texas has the support for a safe pregnancy and birth. The dramatic disparities in maternal mortality across the state highlight the urgent need for action. As one of our new priorities for change, EHF is working with community partners, governments, and health systems to dismantle the barriers to maternal health and support innovative and best practice solutions. Together, we can drive change and save lives - #BMHW24. #HealthNotJustHealthCare #HealthEquity

On National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day, let's reflect on the challenges that mark our society, especially the troubling disparities in infant health outcomes. Alarmingly, Black infants in the United States have a mortality rate significantly higher than their white peers, with the rate for Black infants reaching 13.2 per 1,000 live births in 2021, nearly three times higher than that for white infants (WISCONSIN WATCH). These disparities stem from systemic inequalities, including disparities in healthcare access, socio-economic differences, and the stresses wrought by racism and economic hardship (U-M SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH). Today, I advocate for meaningful action to confront these injustices, aiming for a society where every infant has an equitable start. Let's channel our efforts to erase this disparity, not just to lower the statistics, but to truly honor the lives lost and the potential unfulfilled. #LeadingWhileMuslim #DEI #InfantLossAwareness #NYCHealth #MaternalHealth

Black mothers have the highest maternal mortality rate in the U.S. They are nearly 3x more likely to die from pregnancy-related complications than white mothers. This is why #BlackMaternalHealthWeek matters. We know why Black women have higher rates of death during and following pregnancy: structural racism and systemic barriers to care. The U.S. MUST prioritize Black maternal health by: 👩🏽⚕️ Increasing access to quality, culturally competent care for Black mothers 🤰🏽 Expanding Medicaid postpartum coverage to 1 year and covering doula services To Black Mamas, You deserve to: 💙 Be listened to 💛 Have your health and wellbeing honored 💜 Access to equitable, high-quality care Source of stats: CDC #BMHW24 #BlackMamasMatter

This month, I’m shining a light on a critical issue: the disparity in maternal health outcomes for Indigenous communities. The statistics are alarming. Indigenous women are 2-3 times more likely to experience complications during pregnancy and childbirth compared to white women. These disparities are deeply rooted in challenges like limited access to healthcare, social determinants of health, and lack of cultural competency in healthcare systems. But we can be the change! Educate yourself, support legislation, and advocate for improved maternal healthcare services for Indigenous communities. Together, we can create a powerful force for change. Read more on FIT4MOM blog and discover how you can make a difference. Let's run towards a future where every mom thrives! #MaternalHealth #IndigenousHealth #CommunitySupport #Advocacy #HealthcareEquity

May is #MaternalMentalHealthMonth, and we want to highlight how mental health is being addressed in the maternal health space. Our research shows that community-based organizations (CBOs) are working to integrate culturally-responsive care into their services, which leads to better health outcomes overall for new and expecting parents. Training community-based health workers (nurses, midwives, doulas, etc.) to have a deeper understanding of their patients’ background and culture helps pregnant women and people have safer, more supported pregnancy journeys. With Black women more at risk for maternal mental health struggles, it is crucial that community-based maternal health services address the inequities these mothers face before, during, and after giving birth. No matter what month it is, we are committed to finding solutions to address the maternal health crisis. Read more on our maternal health research ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/efpRKU7d
