NATO works dispite it’s imperfections. There was 21-years between the two European world wars. There has been 75 years of relative peace in Europe since NATO was formed. When the Soviet Union fell former Warsaw Pact members flocked to join NATO as they saw it as the best way to protect their democratic freedoms. That is why Ukraine wants membership. It’s why Sweden & Finland recently joined. The, “all for one & one for all” approach does work. NATO’s existence has provided collective security which has contributed to political stability and economic prosperity for most of its members. Take NATO out of the equation and chaos is likely to follow. China & Russia are licking their chops at the prospect. KBO.
Critics like to propagandise and portray NATO as some kind of empire. Given it's imbalances, unlikely, and not always reliable partnerships, you have to go a very long way to offend it the way Putin has, so that's either a very conscious decision, or the most embarrassing blunder. The conduct of the conflict would infer the latter. Populist nationalism won't plaster over this, nor forced mobilisations, nor expansion of the conflict. The world has changed, and the empty threats will only make it worse. What happened to Beria when he became an embarrassment?

Here’s the reality: NATO has been an offensive hostile alliance since it bombed Serbia. And in fact Russia asked to join NATO and it refused. Why is the Ministry of Defence supporting an aggressive hostile alliance? It is contrary to the name of the ministry. Perhaps you should stop lying to the British people and call yourselves the "Ministry of Aggression" or "Ministry of War"?
