Young people are facing increasing mental health challenges globally, but our investments and actions aren’t matching up. Fifty per cent of mental health conditions develop before the age of 14 and the global annual mental health finance gap is estimated to be at least $200 billion. Though our inner worlds are often unseen, our actions shouldn’t be. UNICEF and the Global Coalition for Youth Mental Health is calling for increased investment in child and youth mental health. More than 1 in 2 people are considered at risk of depression across the EU. Mental distress also comes at a high financial cost – representing no less than 4% of GDP. This European Mental Health Week, we announced the following new commitments to promote mental health: 🔸 €11 million from EU4Health to identify gaps and build capacity with WHO/Europe, 🔸 a €9 million EU-PROMENS project for multidisciplinary training for healthcare professionals, 🔸 a further €10 million to support the mental health of vulnerable groups, such as children and refugees. These initiatives add to our comprehensive approach to mental health which is already investing €1.23 billion into 20 flagship initiatives. Because there is no health without mental health. #HealthUnion #MentalHealthWeek

💚 There is no health without mental health 💚 As a Talent leader for 15 years and specifically as an Advisor/Ambassador for OpenUp in Europe, I want to stress that it's perfectly okay for everyone not to be okay. Employers have a significant role in their employees' well-being because everyone faces challenges at some point. The culture of well-being will greatly influence your organization's overall culture. It should be commonplace for employees to seek help, talk to someone, or feel the need to connect with a life coach or a psychologist for support. At OpenUp, we aim to normalize well-being. We offer an all-in-one platform to support your employees' mental health and well-being needs, in 25 different languages, to ensures accessibility to all. Let's make well-being just as normal with OpenUp. You can send me a LinkedIn message, send me a WhatsApp or call me +31(6)12059882. For an intro, a demo but also for a small question 💚

I often talk about how #stress influences our #gut #microbiome #health. I often talk about how the health of our #GutMicrobiome affects our systemic health, including the #brain, #skin, #heart, #immune system, #cognitive development, #social behavior, #athletic #performance, and #motivation. The most important lesson I learn from my job every day is that everything is interconnected within our #body, #brain, and #mood. The most important lesson I take home from my #job and #life every day is that, at the end of the run, it doesn't matter exactly where we start, if the final point is our #health. ...and there is no health without #MentalHealth #Mental #illness and #depression are so common and so commonly underestimated that the numbers are alarming! #Take #care of yourself and your loved ones, including your #work #team! Everything else is a secondary priority!

💪 The European Commission is investing €1.23 billion into initiatives that support mental health. 💰 Research reveals that companies with mental health programs in place for one year had a median annual ROI of €1.49 for every euro invested. For companies with programs in place for three or more years, the median annual ROI is more than double—valued at €2.01 for every euro spent. This is based on research in Canada. 🌍 More than 1 in 2 people are considered at risk of depression across the EU. Investing in mental health is essential and pays dividends beyond the balance sheet! 🌟 #EuropeanMentalHealthWeek #WomenofInfluence #WomeninFinance

Are we really sure that all our colleagues or managers, know what this concept means? Identifying a physical problem in someone, and understanding their possible limitations, is quite simple. Nevertheless, not everyone has the sensitivity or common sense to turn their brains on before speaking. Those suffering from mental health cannot be detected by visible signs. If this lack of sensitivity is enacted toward a colleague potentially struggling with mental health, the impact can be devastating. Think about it and try to educate yourself by being more aware of the potential harm you may be causing to the people around you.

🙏 We welcome the European Commission's commitment to promote and fund upcoming initiatives announced for #EuropeanMentalHealthWeek 💬 While these steps are a good start and we welcome this funding, it is crucial to ensure that mental health remains high on the political agenda going forward and that concrete steps are taken by the European institutions for a European Year for Mental Health as well as a EU-level strategy for Mental Health which should be underpinned by National Action Plans 💪 Sustained effort and continued investment are essential to make a real difference in the lives of those affected by mental health issues via real co-creation 💚 After all, there is no health without #MentalHealth #MentalHealthAwareness #BetterTogether
