📣CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS📣 Research on People-led Climate Actions and Solutions Against the backdrop of an intensifying climate crisis that affects the most marginalised and the proliferation of market-based climate ‘solutions,’ peoples and communities in the Global South are increasingly taking matters into their own hands. In fact, collective actions from grassroots sectors are at the forefront of forging real solutions to the climate crisis. To this end, IBON International invites Southern civil society organisations to participate in this research project on people-led actions and solutions to the climate crisis. Paper we wrote arguing that there is an emerging governmentality of climate change loss and damage globally. We find, among other things, that root causes of loss and damage are being obscured, Western knowledge and technocratic interventions are centred, and there are colonial presupposed subjectivities of Global South victims of climate change, which are being contested by people bearing the brunt of the climate crisis. We propose future directions for critical research on climate change loss and damage.

THE TOTALITARIANISM OF CLIMATE ALARMISM by Paul Mueller Article excerpt: "But there is a dark side to climate alarmism: It is fundamentally totalitarian — not just inefficient, wasteful, misguided, or myopic. The climate 'emergency' opens the door for total tyranny. There is no part of life, no freedom, no right, no value or good that cannot be subjected for the sake of ameliorating the climate emergency. We can see practical examples of this totalitarianism in Europe and in California."

Canadians are starting to connect the dots between environmental concern and climate action. However, there’s confusion and skepticism about the available solutions for climate action and support for specific climate policies is low. This 2024 report by Re.Climate summarizes over 90 private and public surveys on Canadian public opinion on climate change and energy. These findings support the ongoing need for climate action and the important work BizforClimate is doing to encourage companies and business leaders to speak up in support of climate action and to drive systemic change.

📣🌍 How we handle losses and damages is a key climate justice concern! Meanwhile, wealthy polluting countries have the most historical responsibility for causing the climate crisis and have the most capacity to take action and provide finance. This is the fundamental injustice of climate change.” - Teresa Anderson, Global Lead on Climate Justice at ActionAid International, shares her expertise on the devastating realities communities face due to climate-related loss and damage and how we can approach tackling these issues. Climate Obstruction Across Europe 2024 | 22-24 may | Conference Promo The effort to address climate change has been inadequate, in spite of decades of work and growing certainty on the science, technology, and policy solutions. A key reason is the lack of understanding of organizations obstructing climate action. This year’s CSSN conference features eleven national studies of climate obstruction across Europe and a study of influence in Brussels, as we launch the first comprehensive volume of climate obstruction in the region. Authors from the book’s chapters will boil down their core findings, revealing actors and the strategies and discourses they use delay and block action in Europe. https://lnkd.in/eAfc9fpc
