🍭 🍬 🍭 Getting people to leave their homes can be challenging. All week, our community organizations and municipalities have done a great job in engaging youth and families in participating in Halloween events as a safer alternative to door-to-door trick-or-treating. This is a form of community outreach. What does community outreach look like within your organization? As a coach and consultant, I have found that many organizations are challenged by outreach and engagement. In health and helping organizations, this equates to individuals not receiving access to the services they deserve and need to thrive. There is no cookie-cutter approach to success, but there is an art to it. How would you rate your organization's ability to engage with clients and customers? What are your strengths? What are your challenges? Please read my Human-centered Community Outreach Strategies article on Style My Soul for tips and direct message me with questions. Link to article in comments. Have a great week! #HumanCenteredOutreach #Outreach #Engagement #LeadershipDevelopment #HumanCenteredLeadership #LEIDOSWEL

Whether you think about it or not, your business is a community. Therefore, the successes or failures in your organization are shared. Building that community up intentionally allows individuals to feel connected and purposeful in their actions. Finding ways to call out the good in your employees intentionally places them in a position to feel even more connected to their work. How often are you praising the work of your people, both privately and publicly? 👇👇👇

With the theme for this years Global Community Engagement Day being 'Disconnected - Looking after our mental health in community engagement' I wanted to reach out to my LinkedIn contacts as we prepare to discuss the topic on 28 January. I wanted to ask if anyone would be happy to share their own personal story/journey relating to this topic either openly or anonymously. Note: If you do share your story we take it as permission to share/discuss in our annual state of practice address, usually via Youtube. If happy to share openly, please comment below about how you have disconnected recently or over the last few years in the community engagement sector. If you want to remain anonymous but still share your story only with me, please feel safe sharing your story with me via direct message, email (andrew.e.coulson@gmail.com) or ask for my phone number and let me know if you are happy to share with out personal identifiers. #globalcommunityengagementday #CommEngageDay #GCED20234 #communityengagement #mentalhealth
Author of For the Love of Community Engagement | Podcaster | Keynote Speaker | Authentic Leadership | Frank & fearless with a strong dislike of tokenistic engagement
Now in it's 7th year, Global Community Engagement Day is celebrated in over 40 countries around the world. It's aim is to recognise and promote the importance of community and public participation around the world. Yesterday Andrew Coulson announced that the theme for Global Community Engagement Day 2024 will be "Looking after our mental health in community engagement." The announcement received a high level of interest and excitement - which instantly assured Andrew and I that we were bang on with our topic selection! We have successfully read the room! During the discussion on Andrews post, the word "Disconnected" really struck me as very powerful - and so it became our 2024 hook! No corporate workshops to brainstorm ideas here - it's always been a case of simply 'going where the energy is' and enjoying the ride! And so now, over to you... Wherever you are in the world, and whatever your interest is in community engagement, you are invited to share your thoughts about this topic - from whatever perspective you choose, using whatever medium you prefer. We are really looking forward to your involvement. And a happy birthday ahead of time to our wonderful friend and colleague Dr Wendy Sarkissian, who's birthday was chosen to mark this global day in acknowledgement of her decades and decades of commitment, energy and wisdom in our sector. We love you, Wendy! I know you're going to LOVE this theme! #globalcommunityengagementday #commengageday #communityengagement

Community Engagement 💙 What an absolute love of mine. I often tell people that I practice "old school" engagement--that good ole fashion grassroot "stuff." When I conduct presentations or engage community partners and community members in dialogue, I put humanity first. I generously apply the core principles of Public Health which uplift and empower community. Whom ever I engage, I speak to them like they are my sister, brother, grandmother, or friend. I give us both the space to be ourselves. My form of practiced engagement is the art of sharing space and the human experience. Laughs, smiles, heard, and seen, these are the outcomes I strive for. Today, I conducted a presentation that reminded me of my strength and my family's tenacious origin. I stood in my power and served my community. For me, as a community engagement consultant, one of the most rewarding experiences is the thunderous applause after a presentation. Moments like today remind me why I love community. We, as a community, are stronger than we know. #communityminded #upwardjournery

When Shear Team Connections encourages you to 🔊 Lift Voices to Enhance Community Building 🗣️ , it doesn't mean forcing people to be extroverts, or putting people on the spot to speak. It means that there's got to be intentional effort put into creating genuine moments of connection beyond the Zoom calls or conference rooms. It means that you're checking in with yourself and building up your own self-awareness toolkit so that you can grow better at meeting others where they are. Together, we can build a stronger, more connected community. 🏘️👥 Share your story, amplify voices, and make a difference. Let's rise by lifting each other up! 🚀📢 #YaFeelMe #CommunityBuilding #LiftVoices
