The data on Alzheimer’s disease in Black communities is stark: the risk is higher than average, but the rate of diagnosis is delayed. To address that, several University of Pittsburgh researchers from different departments, including CRSP's Director Dr. Kyaien Conner, are partnering with the Allegheny County Health Department and the Black Equity Coalition (BEC) in a new interdisciplinary effort titled "The Brain and Cognitive Health Equity Campaign for Allegheny County". This includes $53.3 billion paid by Medicare, $3.5 billion by Medicaid, and $23.2 billion by private or out-of-pocket payers. Fatal falls: ➡️ In 2015, the estimated medical costs for fatal falls was $754 million.
