🚀🔗 When experts in technology transfer, founders, and investors get together to discuss how to facilitate successful technology transfer from academic research institutions to startups! 💡   Partners from technology transfer offices of Universität Heidelberg (#hei_INNOVATION, ScienceValue Heidelberg GmbH), DKFZ Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum and EMBL Enterprise Management Technology Transfer GmbH (#EMBLEM) as well as experienced founders, investors and ecosystem representatives (BioRN Life Science Cluster Rhine-Neckar and Heidelberg Startup Partners e.V.) met in Heidelberg to enter into a lively discussion on the challenges startups face when trying to secure access to Intellectual property owned by their research institution.    Here's a quick rundown of some key takeaways:   Agile Implementation: Speed is essential for success of startups. Thus, academic research institutions need to commit to an “enabling” culture by implementing standardized and digitalized administrative processes to enhance technology transfer efficiency. Showcasing Role Models: Embracing the lessons gained from both successes and failures there is a need to spotlight inspiring role models and amplify their visibility for aspiring entrepreneurs. Transparency and communication: Startups and technology transfer offices often describe contract negotiations with each other as a non-transparent process. As an innovation consultant, Anne strives to support digital life science, connecting innovators to data, utilizing clinical knowledge, and providing testing facilities, expediting the innovation process. This support is especially crucial in light of the immense pressures the healthcare sector is facing today. From harnessing sunlight to digesting plastics to a smart fitness device for the brain, the first Founders at the University of Cambridge Start 1.0 accelerator announces the 11 start-ups selected for the programme 👏 These early-stage companies, founded by Cambridge students, alumni, and academics, are working on complex challenges across Hardware, Life Sciences and Sustainability. Founders is designed to accelerate and smooth the path to success, enabling these early-stage Cambridge companies to compete with other emerging startups from universities in the US and Europe. During a three-month period, the teams will receive early-stage funding, mentorship, development work, and more.
