🌐African youth AMR forum 1.0🌐🌐🌐 Yesterday was the first day of the conversation at the African youth AMR forum 1.0. I'm so excited to be part of this 3 days forum organised by International Pharmaceutical Students' Federation , with invited experts from all over Africa under the theme of "meaningful youth engagement to prevent antimicrobial resistance together". This activity is coinciding with the world AMR awareness week. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is one of the greatest threats to public health, sustainable development, and security worldwide. The meaningful engagement of the youth community play a central role in preventing the emergence and spread of AMR. On this Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Week, Lab Diagnostic Systems stands united in emphasizing the critical need for responsible antibiotic use. We all play a role in preserving these essential drugs for future generations. We, at LDS, are deeply committed to addressing the serious issue of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). Our dedication extends beyond words — it's reflected in our actions to promote responsible antibiotic use and raise awareness about the consequences of AMR. Did you know that in Pakistan, antibiotic misuse is a pressing concern? According to recent statistics, a significant percentage of antibiotic prescriptions are unnecessary, contributing to the rise of drug-resistant infections. It's imperative for individuals and healthcare providers to collaborate in promoting awareness and implementing practices that combat this growing threat. As we reflect on the impact of AMR, let's commit to informed decision-making regarding antibiotics, advocating for policies that promote responsible use, and fostering a global community dedicated to preserving these invaluable medications. #AntibioticStewardship #AntibioticResistance #preventingantibioticresistancetogether #GlobalHealthChallenge #PakistanHealthcare

Microbiologist | Academic writer | Research enthusiast | Content marketing professional | I'm open to new opportunities
Antimicrobial resistance has been a major threat to public health systems. Researchers and scientists are consciously and constantly devising means on how to reduce the effects it brings and if possible eradicate their impacts in health system. Through studies and several investigations, it has been established that misuse of antibiotics contributes majorly to the increasingly growing of antimicrobial resistance most especially amongst people with knowledge deficiency about antibiotics and/or its resistance. This makes sensitization a necessity, which provides means of conveying the message to them in languages they understand. Dr. Ibrahim Yusuf is a seasoned microbiologist and researcher that's always finding effective ways on making the society and it's inhabitants healthy through research and consultations. We are proud of who you are and what you do sir. The safety of health is always an individual responsibility. I believe, together, we can defeat antimicrobial resistance with the right knowledge and approach. Say no to antibiotics misuse Say no to self-administration of drugs. #AMR #antimicrobialresistance #Microbiologist.
After over two years, we are extending our community engagement program to additional rural communities and hospitals. The misuse of antimicrobials among rural residents and remote community settlers in Nigeria is a significant factor contributing to the escalating problem of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). In response, we have chosen to bring this vital message directly to the affected communities, with the goal of educating them about the consequences of self-administered antibiotic treatments and the importance of using antibiotics only as prescribed by healthcare professionals. #AMR #stewardship #CommunityEngagement #KnowledgeSharing #TogetherWecanFightAMR

Achieving World Health Organization Prequalification (#WHOPQ). The #availability of #essentialmedicines with guaranteed #quality plays a crucial role in the advancement of global health goals, such as eliminating preventable deaths of newborns and children under five, combating waterborne and other #communicablediseases, ending the epidemics of AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, and neglected tropical diseases, and achieving universal health coverage (#UHC). It can be challenging to guarantee a steady supply of these medications. There are frequently #gaps or shortages in the #globalsupply of a certain necessary medication because there are few or no GMP-compliant manufacturers producing it. Encouraging pharmaceutical producers to meet global #quality standards, like the World Health Organization prequalification (#WHOPQ), can assist in resolving concerns about the availability of essential medicines. Bloom Public Health is equipped to provide #pharmaceuticalmanufacturers with responsive #technicalassistance through the journey to becoming WHO-prequalified, empowering them to consistently produce quality-assured essential medicines at par with #globalstandards. Kindly contact us about the WHO prequalification process, and we will respond within 48 hours. #WHOPQ #globalstandards #pharmaceuticalmanufacturers #essentialmedicines #GMP #supplychain #capacitybuilding #BloomPublicHealth #Africa #Nigeria #Cameroon #Botswana #Rwanda #Zambia

The UK government has recently pledged £85 million to support the international community in tackling the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance. £50 million will be allocated to support countries and institutions in Africa in accessing essential antimicrobial drugs. Up to a further £25 million will include support to Caribbean countries and territories to strengthen surveillance systems for AMR, to identify and tackle outbreaks before they develop. An additional £10 million will be used to help establish an international scientific panel to coordinate global action. https://loom.ly/NT_-NcI #AMR #antimicrobialresistance

AMREF and GSK will co-host a side event at #WHA77 to address the urgent global health crisis posed by antimicrobial resistance (AMR), particularly acute in low- and middle-income countries. Africa is projected to bear the highest burden of AMR-related deaths by 2050, making coordinated strategies and collective action critical. The session will gather insights and inputs to bolster AMR action across Africa. As part of the "African Leadership for AMR Action" initiative, a 13-month endeavour, the aim is to strengthen locally-led AMR programs informed by a region-wide landscape analysis. Discussions will focus on priority strategic information and the design of a messaging framework, culminating in forming a regional action group. Convening high-level stakeholders from government, civil society, and the private sector aims to align on key priorities and mobilize support for AMR response. For key deliberations from the session, follow the conversations via #AmrefAtWHA77.
