We're calling on MPs to divert existing funding, resources and expertise away from animal experiments and to implement a timetabled roadmap to urgently end all animal experiments, starting with an immediate ban on all research which is not legally required or where non-animal methodologies already exist. Help animals in laboratories by writing to your MP! Link in bio👀✏️ #WDAIL #EndAnimalExperiments #BetterScience

#WorldDayForLaboratoryAnimals Conducting scientific research that involves animal experiments is a complex endeavor, but inevitable for advancing our understanding of infection processes and development of new therapeutics. At Leibniz-Institut für Naturstoff-Forschung und Infektionsbiologie - Hans-Knöll-Institut, we ensure utmost care for every creature under our watch. As we prioritize animal welfare, using strict ethical guidelines, quality controls, and alternative techniques, we aim to minimize the overall need for animal experiments. What do you think? 🤔 A recent study found that only 5% of #animalstudies lead to human treatments. Is this a wake-up call to improve study design or is it a success? The Center for Reproducible Science at the University of Zurich, an European Animal Research Association (EARA) member, published the results. Study author Benjamin Ineichen attributes the low success rate to many factors, saying "...you have to consider how difficult it is to develop effective new therapies and how great the utility of a drug is for people who suffer from an illness." Where do you stand on the topic? How do we improve the probability of success? Are there limitations in animal studies that are holding us back? Should we design animal experiments to more closely resemble the human trials that may one day follow? #RevolutionizingResearch #invivo

Vision to replace animal testing 🐭🔬 We still face barriers in testing and research when it comes to moving away from animal testing. Continuing our series of interviews with FRAME Fund for the Replacement of Animals in Medical Experiments's CEO Celean Camp and cellQART®'s CEO Dennis Benkmann, Celean provides insights into testing regulations in different sectors. In testing, regulatory guidelines and official recommendations for animal use remain in place, requiring extensive data provision. Although there are changes, such as the UK government's reformed guidelines, more work and regulation is needed. In research, barriers include incentive to change in the academic sector, funding and publications as references to moving from in vivo to in vitro. Animal research still remains culturally ingrained in certain fields, hindering progress. There's still a long way to go, but we're working tirelessly towards an animal-free future, one step at a time. Stay tuned for the final part of our interview series next week, where we'll talk about how to accelerate this transition! 💡 #nonanimaltesting #biomedical #research #humanandhumane
