This time of year used to mean sending everyone home, slow time in the office to do project closeout paperwork, bid jobs for spring, work on internal projects that get put on the back burner, and do a little wandering to get away and relax.
The last 5 years winter for us has meant trying to quickly get the summer jobs done so we can transition to the winter work. Battle the late season elements to wrap up so we can start shipping off the the next spot. January will kick of 3 new jobs to start 2025, with lots more behind those. What used to be the slow pace time of year has now turned into to our rush season to flip to the next stop, while still needing to close out the last ones, and still bidding during the busy bidding season through the winter (luckily we don’t need to do much of that this winter).
This change of pace makes the few weeks we do stop at the holidays that much more important every year. I’ve grown to look forward to that few weeks of quiet to get some rest, play with the kids, do some house projects, and maybe stop in a few days and do a few of those office back burner projects while no one is around.
We are thankful for the guys hard work this year, looking forward to another very busy year next year, and can’t wait for those couple of slow weeks before the craziness continues on as if it didn’t know winter even existed.
It’s starting to feel a lot like winter here in Michigan. Some snowy watermain action as we are down to the last little bit of watermain installation on our Delta Township St Joe Watermain and Pathway project. Luckily we will have a little bit of warmer weather after this weeks cold spell as we work the wrap most of this project up before year end. #duniganbros #betterdirtworld #undergroundconstruction I
