#Sponsorship News: University of Tennessee, Knoxville Lands Historic Multi-Year Sponsorship Deal with Pilot Flying J ⛽🌟 Per On3, Tennessee Athletics partners with Pilot, a Knoxville-based travel center company, creating one of the largest sponsorship agreements in college sports history. Pilot is designated as the presenting partner of the Neyland Stadium renovation project and the official travel stop of Tennessee Athletics in a multi-year deal that could extend up to 20 years. The deal includes prominent new signage on the east side of Neyland, featuring the return of the “Home of the Vols” alongside Pilot’s logo. Additionally, Pilot will sponsor on-field elements and introduce a Fast Favorites refreshment stand at Gate 21. With the impending budgetary pressures of opting into a revenue-sharing agreement with players, athletic programs are expected to distribute $20 to $22 million annually. Securing long-term, strategic sponsorships like this has become increasingly important. Every market has it's nuances, and LA and Philly are perfect examples. While the Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Rams are relatively similiar in terms of total sponsorship revenues, average deal sizes and number of sponsors, the markets they operate in couldn't be more different. Sports sponsorship spending in LA is about 2.5X that of Philly, despite only about 20% buying sponsorships. The difference? LA's market is far more fragmented, with a significantly larger number of rights holders, athletes and non-sports events driving sponsorship spending. This fragmentation often requires a different go-to-market approach for both rights holders and brands navigating the sponsorship landscape. I'm excited that with SPND, brands and teams can now uncover previously inaccessible insights like these to benchmark market spending or revenues and the deeply understand the competitive landscape. Some valuable findings in Elevent's 2024 Sponsorship Performance Survey, which examines the impact of sports sponsorships on consumer perspectives among adults in the U.S.: 📈 The positive correlation between brand sponsorship and consumer purchase intent improved from 59% to 66% YOY. 💲 20% of respondents have chosen to do business with a brand ONLY because it sponsors a sport or sporting organization they like. 💕 The most popular sports have a less engaged fanbase, and the least popular sports typically have a more engaged fanbase. 🏀 NBA fans are more receptive to sponsors than NFL fans and the average public with 79% more likely to purchase from sponsors they like.
