LinkedIn, I come seeking help! I'm looking for contacts in international media to tell them about a climate-related world record we will set this Saturday. We will screen our river documentary on a dam wall in the same river, with a minimum size of 60x33m. I think it’s worthy of international environmental coverage. It’s a world record for the largest projection of a feature film - one that concludes with the voices of indigenous people talking about the impact of climate change on the glaciers they depend on. I have a simple website with basic information and a press kit. Do you know somebody I can share this with? Do you have any other ideas on how to reach broader media? I’m excited to share that my project, “Resilient Oceans: Studying deep-sea sediments to understand the climate,” has been selected, and I’m now officially a #YoungOceanAdvocate in Portugal! 🌊 Joining the Youth4Ocean Forum allows me to connect with a vibrant community of young Europeans committed to ocean and climate issues. 💡 Studying deep-sea sediments is key to understanding past climate and ocean conditions, which helps us predict and address climate impacts like sea level rise and extreme weather. Today we're celebrating #WorldOceansDay, which happens every year on June 8. Did you know that only 10% of the oceans have been explored? #AwakenNewDepths “There is so much still to learn about oceans – and, importantly, to reverse the damage being caused to our precious lifeline resource.” —Dennis Francis, President of the UN General Assembly The State of the Ocean report warned that the rate of ocean warming has doubled in 20 years and that coastal species are suffocating due to decreased oxygen levels in the ocean, among other things. While these truths are heart wrenching, we must take them as critical calls to action in our daily lives. One of its conclusions is that “ocean literacy practice and research is a strategic ally to optimize resources, accelerate behavioral change and improve the implementation of ocean conservation programs and sustainability practices.” We can make a difference together, primarily by learning and making sustainable purchases. #LovetheEarth #WeLovetheEarth

🌍 Exciting News! 🏛️ Preserving Legacies, led by National Geographic Society Explorer Victoria Herrmann, is expanding its mission to safeguard natural and cultural heritage against climate change impacts. Welcoming 11 new heritage sites and custodians from around the globe, this initiative aims to protect our shared legacy for future generations. These new heritage sites, spanning 6 continents, will participate in an interactive training and adaptation program to understand, visualize, and mitigate climate change impacts on their cultural treasures. From the Kherlen River Basin in Mongolia to the Rock of Cashel in Ireland, diverse sites are uniting to combat climate threats.
