The study compared FRAME-supported autologous internal jugular vein grafts to unsupported vein grafts in a porcine carotid artery interposition model. At a 1-month follow-up, 100% of FRAME-supported grafts were patent, compared to 43% for the controls. FRAME-supported vein grafts also showed significantly fewer areas of stenosis and higher blood flow rates at explantation compared to the controls. ๐๐จ๐ง๐๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ข๐จ๐ง: "In our porcine model, the external mesh FRAME improved the patency of vein-to-carotid artery grafts and protected them from stenosis, particularly in the mid regions. ๐ฌNew Article Co-authored by UNC and Duke Researchers Dougald Monroe, PhD, from UNC Department of Medicine and Ammon Fager, MD, PhD, from Duke Department of Medicine have co-authored a new article titled, โStopping the bleed when the platelets donโt stick.โ The publication details a bifunctional antibody that brings factor VIIa, which kickstarts platelet activation, to the surface of activated platelets. **Just released, online first** A new study from the AO Spine Knowledge Forum Degenerative, led by Xiaolong Chen and Ashish Diwan, compared the clinical effectiveness of reduction and fusion with in situ fusion in patients with degenerative lumbar spondylolisthesis. What did the findings reveal? Significantly longer operating times in the reduction and fusion group compared to in situ. But they also suggest no substantial superiority of reduction and fusion in terms of improving the prognosis of DLS patients. Shugan Hewei therapy (SHT), a traditional Chinese medicine method, is widely recognized for its role in soothing the liver and harmonizing the stomach, particularly in treating chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG). Despite its popularity, the clinical effectiveness and safety of SHT have remained unclearโuntil now. This Chinese Medicine and Culture study, which analyzed data from 27 randomized controlled trials involving 2,441 patients, demonstrates that SHT is more effective and safer than control interventions, including western medicine and Chinese patent medicine. The therapy significantly improved symptoms, inhibited Helicobacter pylori, and reduced gastric mucosal inflammation, positioning SHT as a promising treatment for CAG.
