Visit us at the Kunststoffenbeurs on September 18th and 19th and attend our second presentation together with The Compound Company! 🚀 Learn how we successfully tackled both the circularity challenges in plastic recycling and water management via our 'Plastic Blackwashing' project together with Stiphout Plastics B.V. The Compound Company De Grondstoffendienst and Rainblock. During the project, we turned the Rainblocks circular, by using recycled (black) PCR plastic as the main resource instead of virgin materials. ♻ Co-funded by the Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland (RVO) Making both plastics and nature green (again) 😉 ! I recently got to talk about how plastics recycling in Sweden and Finland affects national waste incineration and, through impacts on waste imports, the management of mixed waste in the rest of Europe. Downcycling of plastics can significantly postpone incineration of waste plastics, which is likely to be good for the climate. However, the potential climate benefit of high-grade recycling is greater because it can reduce both incineration and primary production of plastics. #PlastLIFE #plastics #recycling #SiteZero #advancedsorting
In Finland, multiple initiatives are underway, forging pathways to scrutinize the entire lifecycle of plastic and shake up existing systems. Beyond sorting, collection, and recycling of plastics, additional measures are crucial to foster a sustainable circular economy. Embarking on the Circular Economy for Plastics prompts a reevaluation of the plastic lifecycle, one step at a time. Experts delved into product design and logistics for plastic waste recycling at the ‘Enabling the Circular Economy of Plastics’ seminar. The conclusion drawn from the workshop sessions supported the need to enhance product design and logistics for plastic recycling to promote a circular economy for plastics. The ongoing development continues within the PlastLIFE project led by Syke and the SPIRIT programme by Borealis Finland. The seminar and workshops were co-organized by PlastLIFE Finland and the #SPIRITProgramme. 🎉 Circle Links go live at the LOOP forum! The LOOP forum in Copenhagen, one of the world’s largest fairs in the circular economy was the ideal place to promote and bring awareness to the concept of Circle Links 🔄 Circle Links is a concept based on recycling modular belts and scrap from production into new links, via patented plastic resin sorting technology. It helps reuse old plastic belt parts instead of throwing them away and adding to the waste. The idea plays into the company’s understanding of and responsibility towards sustainable solutions, as well as the mandatory goals placed on AMMEGA by the UN because of our signing of the UNGC directive ♻️ Circle Links will close the loop, securing compliance and transparency for the Ammeraal Beltech Modular belting, while saving CO2 and aiding the company in our ESG pledge towards sustainable solutions and a greener future 🌱 The LOOP forum guests welcomed our concept with interest and excitement, proving that circular economy ideas are worth exploring and expanding upon. It’s our ambition to adapt Circle Links to market needs and demand, so that we may take care of our planet – one step at a time 🤗 #CircleLinks #CircularEconomy #Sustainability #Recycling #Innovation

The world is producing 400 million tons of virgin plastic a year. At Mix-Up_H2020 , an international research project on microbial recycling of mixed plastics, 🌍 we're tackling this issue head-on. After our in person meetup last week. The project, which included 15 European and 4 Chinese partners, has just been concluded successfully. More than 140 publications were distributed within the project and all partners are pushing forward to include different plastics in the process. 🎉 The project, coordinated by Prof. Lars M. Blank from RWTH Aachen University , aimed to research ways to decompose mixed plastics into its building blocks using microorganisms. This approach sought to not only downcycle the material but also generate new high-quality plastics, thereby fostering a circular plastic economy. We at Everwave are proud to have been part of Mix-Up. Our responsibilities included supplying material collected during our Missions and managing the external communication of the research project. We believe in the critical importance of not only collecting legacy waste already present in the environment but also striving for a circular economy to reduce the production of new plastic. ♻️ Let's work together to make a lasting impact. Join us in driving the transition to a circular economy and reducing the impact of plastic waste! 🌱💪 “from plastic waste to plastic value” #MixUp #Research #CircularEconomy #Plastic

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗢𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗕𝗲 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝗧𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 🤝 Federal Minister for Climate Action Leonore Gewessler visited the PreZero Polymers recycling plant in Haimburg, Austria. 🏭 This site is one of the largest recycling plants in Europe. During the visit, discussions focused not only on plastic #recyclates, but also on ways to increase the use of recycled materials. ♻️ As Austria’s government aims to double plastic #packaging #recycling by 2025. 💬 Minister Gewessler emphasized the importance of the circular economy: "The work of PreZero Polymers makes a significant contribution. It also shows – determined policies make a difference." To prepare for the future, PreZero Polymers is building a shredder plant in Haimburg, scheduled for completion in 2025. The modernization of the plant will ensure compliance with political recycling quotas 🚀. #plasticrecycling #circulareconomy Robert Lackner Olga Voglauer

Did you know that #bioplastics production is set to triple by 2028? 🌱 Current recycling systems are not prepared for this growth, and that's where MoeBIOS comes in. This Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU) -Funded Project, that ITENE coordinates, seeks to revolutionize the #recycling of bioplastics and tackle 🎯 the challenge of plastic pollution. We are developing and optimizing recycling methods for bioplastic waste, creating demonstrators based on these recycled materials, and assessing the #sustainability and #safety of the entire process. Our goal is to drive a circular economy for bioplastics in key sectors such as #packaging, agriculture, and textiles. 🌿 Join us on this exciting journey towards a more sustainable future! We address the entire #valuechain from an international perspective and focus on the technological, logistic, and societal challenges lying ahead. The burning question remains: how to continue this road to circular plastics? What are the major challenges facing the Netherlands as it seeks to recycle at least half of plastic waste by 2030 and achieve 100% circularity by 2050, and how is the government working to overcome these challenges? On September 26th (for the 4th time), 150+ experts, pioneering thinkers, stakeholders and academics from the field of circular plastics will gather in Jaarbeurs MeetUp in Utrecht for the Circular Plastics Conference 2024 to formulate the next steps in closing the loop before 2050.
