💚 Let's create a future we can all fall in love with! 💚 That was the main quote from last week's closing ceremony at the Love Tomorrow Conference. If you missed this inspiring event, don’t worry—we’ve got you covered. Here are Seven Beaufort's five favorite quotes of the day: 👌 "Our strategy is to tackle the big emission contributors first!" - Debbie Van Dijck, Project Lead Sustainability at Tomorrowland Selected by Olivier: Tomorrowland is like a temporary city that comes to life every year. With a 52-day build-up and a 19-day breakdown, it has many characteristics of a real city, making it the perfect place to test new tech and sustainable ideas. ♻️ "Let's keep closing circles!" - Glenn Van Olmen, CFO at Aquafin Selected by Linde: The concept of Riolimo, lemonade from wastewater, highlights the endless possibilities of transforming wastewater into valuable resources. ❤️🔥 “Don’t start with your passion, start with what the world needs from you, and make that your passion!” - Rutger Bregman, Bestselling Author and Thought Leader Selected by Samuel: For the first time in history, people are obsessed with their "passion" and what drives them, so much so that we forget that we live on this rock together. What you can change for the better, you should. ✨ "Explain things in emotion." - Richard Ascott, CMO at Cowboy Selected by Sylvie: Brands need to go beyond technical features and connect with their audience on an emotional level, making messages more memorable and impactful. 🌱 "The only way to be successful in sustainable business is by providing value to your customer. You cannot build a business on being sustainable alone.” - Jean-Marc Vandoorne, CEO at BioFirst Group Selected by Marie: BioFirst’s bio alternative to pesticides, which uses bumblebees, offers greater yield to horticulturists, demonstrating that sustainability must be paired with customer benefits. How fat was that! 🌍 #LoveTomorrow #Conference #Inspiration #Sustainability #Innovation #SevenBeaufort #Tomorrowland

Have you ever thought about when something becomes waste? Our co-founder Laura Stanford joined the #RISEAfrica 2024 Action Festival to add bugs to the conversation on building #CircularCities. She shared her perspective on the important of rethinking waste and handing sustainable decisions over to our consumers through making circular and sustainable products more available. That is what we are here for... giving pet owners the option of proudly circular and sustainable pet food for the first time! #LOOPLove #SustainablePetFood #CircularEconomy #InsectsAsFeed
A big thank-you to ICLEI for including me as a panelist in your #RISEAfrica 2024 Action Festival last week. Being intentional about promoting, designing, implementing and sustaining #CircularEconomy cities is critical. I wore the hat of the #Insect enthusiast of course... But firstly... I truly believe that we need to rethink that concept of what "waste" is and when something actually becomes "waste". If you can create value from that waste, is it truly waste or just an input to a new process? And if there is a potential value, how do we place this waste (I say input) in the hands of those that can realise that value? When it comes to cities and their significant challenges with organic waste management, #blacksoldierfly are an obvious solution. Diverting organic waste from landfill and into the mouth of insects as a feedstock is a winning solution - I do not believe that anyone will disagree with this? AND... It is critical that there is advocacy around #InsectsAsFeed so that supportive legislation can become commonplace on our continent. This is definitely a work in progress as the applications of insects (the nexus of waste management and sustainable protein) unfolds. These are important conversations that need to be happening. AND... I think that the value of waste can and should be more nuanced and this is where #innovators and #entrepreneurs are critical by seeing opportunity where others have not. How can these pioneers be better supported? AND... It is critical that sustainable, circular economy products are available to consumers so that the responsibility of sustainable choices can start moving into households, with individuals being faced with making easy decisions to move our agenda forward. This is what we are doing at Loop Pet Food by seeing immense opportunity in using "waste" to create high value, high nutrient pet food through the incorporation of wonky/rescued/ugly vegetables and craft brewery spent grains (a new product under development). This is in addition to our use of our beautiful insects (#BSF). I loved fellow panelist Gift Lubele's passion for the power of data to drive positive change through empowering decision makers. Something that I have inherently known but definitely underestimated and seeing (and hearing) it in action was epic and made it all seem so obvious- see Kudoti to learn more. I do not believe that there is a silver bullet to solving some of our continents climate challenges but I think that there are so many superstars walking their journeys... So here is hoping that we can have more of these events to bring more of these thinkers together.

𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐩𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐰𝐚𝐲 🚀 Creating sustainable climate initiatives is at the heart of AgriFoodTure’s mission, and we work on creating solutions to secure climate, environment, and biodiversity while safeguarding food production and employment and powering a new generation of export opportunities 🌍🌿 Therefore, we are very happy to announce that we have recently received new funding from Innovation Fund Denmark. The funding will be used for a new pool of projects that will turbocharge the transition to a greener agriculture and food system. The main theme for the new pool of projects is “Accelerating Impact and Implementation of Climate Solutions Towards 2030”. The projects in the new pool should all have two key elements: 🏃 𝐅𝐚𝐬𝐭-𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭: The projects sprint toward the finish line, leaving a trail of reduced greenhouse gas emissions in their wake. 🌍 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬: The projects pave the way for a society ready to embrace change. Imagine a harmonious blend of community engagement, user adoption, and consumer enthusiasm. With the new pool of projects, we allocate 15% of the funds to new partners, welcoming fresh faces into AgriFoodTure. Another 15% goes towards investment in knowledge-based development projects in small and medium-sized Danish enterprises (SMEs) and entrepreneurial companies, igniting sparks of innovation More information will follow 📢🔍 #climateaction #greentransition

Webinar 2nd – Green & Blue Economy On May 14th, the ORIGINN project hosted a webinar on the topic of the Green Economy. The purpose of the webinar was to showcase Good Practices from the seven regional authorities who make up the ORIGINN consortium. Moderated by Dr Geraldine Brennan of CirculÉire, Ireland’s national platform for circular manufacturing, the webinar featured a full agenda of diverse and interesting presentations. Each partner invited a local stakeholder to present their Good Practice, and these were followed by a lively questions and answers session. The webinar was attended by 54 participants, including policy-makers, industry actors, and civil society organisations, spanning three time zones across Europe. They tuned in to hear about organic farmers organising for policy improvement in Estonia, and the cutting-edge Bioeconomy Hub in Catalonia; they heard about Emilia-Romagna’s policies to drive the development of the blue economy, and Jämtland Härjedalen’s innovative project to develop circular business models; they took a tour through Centru’s agri-tourism heartland, and learned about a great example of public-private partnership for circular manufacturing in Prešov. While the Good Practices presented covered a variety of issues and policy areas, the common element was the innovative nature of the interventions they described. Innovation which is at the heart of ORIGINN’s mission to support sustainable and transformative development of our rural communities. #bioeconomy #blueeconomy #circular #circulareconomy #Greeneconomy #Innovation #Rural #Sustainabledevelopment #Sustainableinnovation

We are proud to be part of this experienced consortium dedicated to uptake the bio-economy sector in the EU. 🌱 The project is focused on advancing the access of #SMEs to pilot and demo infrastructure to scale-up and commercialize bio-economy technologies. The bio-economy sector is of strategic importance for Slovenia, but we fall under the underdeveloped countries according to the Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU). In SRIP, we are focusing on creating new circular bio-economy value chains, but we hit a lot of walls: missing actors in the value chains, lack of infrastructure for testing, limited innovation, policy hurdles. We are convinced that the know-how from the Pilots4U by CoPilot will contribute positively to addressing at least some of these challenges. ✨
Today is 🌞 a happy day 🌞 as 𝗖𝗢𝗣𝗜𝗟𝗢𝗧 𝗸𝗶𝗰𝗸𝘀 𝗼𝗳𝗳! COPILOT will 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗲, 𝘂𝗽𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗼𝘁𝘀𝟰𝗨 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 & 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲 and is funded by Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU).
