This is where a seamless user experience (UX) becomes critical. As web developers and consultants, we need to visualize and create digital learning platforms that are understandable and navigable for children of all ages—ensuring they can use it without hiccups or confusion. Equally important is creating platforms that teachers feel comfortable using and understand how to use effectively. Dive into the world of aspirants preparing for competitive exams, facing hurdles in finding the right mentors. 📚 Introducing an ecosystem for preparation with personality-based tailor-made mentorship sessions. 🚀 This journey taught me invaluable nuances of the UX world. Every new product, whether it’s an app or a physical object, follows a specific set of steps that take it from the first spark of an idea to the release of the final product. This is called the product development life cycle, and it has five stages: brainstorm, define, design, test, and launch. Depending on where you work, the exact names of each stage might be a little different, but the overall process is generally the same. I decided to become a C student to learn a new skill. I first heard about UX Design in 2020 I decided to start learning it in 2021. I was in school then. And... I was studying 'rocket science!' 😂 I mean for a course that comprised of Physics and Maths, I could swear that I now know how to generate the minimum amount of energy required for a rocket to escape earth's gravitational force. 🤷♂️ My friends, seeing how I wasn't showing up in class as much suggested I find a balance. Honestly, I tried! But I couldn't find a way to excel in both. One aspect had to suffer. 🤦 I couldn't let it be the new skill. So I made peace with it. This is not a blueprint for anything. Someone was talking about this last week, and it reminded me of a project I was a part of a year ago. It's an all-in-one academic tool for college students. With this, students can: ↳ Manage their profile on school portal ↳ Access past questions and answers ↳ Use AI tools to solve problems ↳ Connect with online school community ↳ Manage their schedule 📅 (like Upload timetable and get reminders.) ↳ Get accommodation on and off campus When I joined the team, I instantly connected with the mission. I collaborated with the team to design a simple version of the web app. We launched and iterated. User personas for kids? Not in my book. 📕 Here’s why: Kids are ridiculously creative, unpredictable, and not yet molded by society. They possess limitless potential, even though their environments are almost always fully dependent on others. Designing a great EdTech product for children requires acknowledgment by the business and designer that, unlike adults who typically fall within one user type or another, each child is completely and utterly unique.  🦄 The best products my kids use to learn provide flexible experiences that allow each of them to explore and learn at their own pace while feeling individually supported and guided every step of the way. Personas for kids are typically based on: • age 🙄 • generalized education standards 😬 • the adult-controlled demographics they live within 🤨 One alternative that I've seen work very well is when product teams relentlessly and continuously talk to as many of their young users as possible (without proxies). With this type of hands-on qualitative discovery, the problem their product is trying to solve is seen in its clearest light, while the intricate, complex, and diverse user needs are simultaneously refined. 👉 👉 What do you think? When we’re designing something it helps to think about the situations people might experience when they use it. Are there places where we say something will be “easy” or “simple” or “take 2 minutes” that might not match up with their real lives? We don’t have control over what’s happening for people when they go on a website or app. And only thinking about the happy path means we might accidentally be causing people frustration. People might:  - be in a hurry - have a headache - be waiting in line in a noisy store - get an error message - be trying to keep a toddler from doing toddler things Since we can’t guarantee their environment will make things easy for them, we can give them facts about the process instead. “This is a simple form.“ can be changed to “This form has 3 questions.” “Filling out our application is easy, just click below.” can be changed to “We’ll guide you through the application process. To start, select the ‘Apply’ link.” We can tell them what we know, so they can make an educated decision about whether this is the right time for them to do it. When they understand what they’re getting into, it makes them more likely to succeed with what they're trying to do.
