It has been such a pleasure work on this project - measuring the impact of our #BakeADifference campaign. To give some context/background for those unfamiliar with our video (check it out on our Voice for Social Good page if you haven't yet) Target Audience & Objectives  i) Institutional funders: to offer adequate levels of operational funding ii) Nonprofit leaders: to influence their own boards and funders iii) Individual donors: monthly giving and to understand that NGOs cannot be run effectively on volunteers alone Context: According to Centre for Asian Philanthropy and Society (CAPS), Hong Kong has the lowest no. of NGOs receiving capacity funding support in Asia - at 4% vs 16%  (so probably one of lowest in the developed world!), we need to use this ammunition to get HK NGOs to move the needle. What we want to measure: Important to understand if / how the campaign has made any changes to:  a) NGO’s approach to asking for funding  b) Donor's behaviour  c) Actual type of funding received, 3-6 months from launch date (5 Sept 2023) or even a year later. Well, it's been under 5 months since the launch and we we have 30x more views and 14x more re-shares than expected! We also had 55% more downloads of our viewing guide than we had estimated. Sometimes we simply underestimate our ability to make change, I am now convinced - anything is possible. Demonstrating thought leadership and engaging the right institutional funders and nonprofit leaders were integral to the success of this project. The use of simple yet engaging animation content, meticulous script writing, coupled with a well-planned dissemination strategy encompassing online and on-site events, further contributed to its effectiveness. It's worth noting that all of this was accomplished with a limited budget, as we operated as a group of dedicated volunteers. Can you imagine what impact could be created when you have the resources to match?

Katherine, what is that picture...? 😅 That, my friends, is the "Impact Up Fund" proudly created by my stepson for our Playa Del Carmen ImpactUp event, organized and led by We Are For Good and co-hosted with Kelly Gagnon! While it may seem like a simple and charming glass container, it represents much more. This little pot is a beacon for the future. -- 👉 One of the biggest factors in driving long-term change is how much the future generation cares about environmental, animal, and social issues. After all, children are the future of humanity. Involving youth in non-profit initiatives is a fantastic way to spark their curiosity and openness. By introducing them to important concepts early on, we can inspire them to learn how they can make a difference. 🤸 Children are like sponges, absorbing knowledge and experiences from their environment. It's crucial to make them feel valued in non-profit work so they can grow to love it as much as we do! Not only is this good for the planet, but from my observation, it is also incredible for youth to help them develop a sense of belonging and responsibility. It also can be incredibly gratifying for them! 🧠 From a very young age, Kade has been involved in many of my non-profit activities. He is brimming with creativity and constantly thinking about how the world works. When given the space and proper encouragement, it's amazing how much young people can contribute to your non-profit and to the world! 💭 What are your thoughts on the role of the youth in non-profit work? “Intermediaries are not necessarily a silver bullet for philanthropy.” —Elisha Smith Arrillaga, Ph.D., Vice President of Research at Center for Effective Philanthropy (CEP) A new report from the Center for Effective Philanthropy (CEP) reveals that grantee experiences with intermediary funders do not differ greatly from those with “originating” funders. Intermediaries, a term which refers to many kinds of entities that are regrantors of philanthropic dollars, have been the subject of increased support and attention in recent years. Many in philanthropy assert that intermediaries are better able to achieve goals related to impact, build relationships with nonprofit grantees, and progress on issues related to equity. However, according to CEP’s report—the largest study of grantee experiences with intermediary organizations to date—grantees of intermediaries are not having notably more positive or more negative experiences than grantees of other funders. “I dream for a living” 💭✨ This morning, as I sat down to work, I pulled one of my “Beyond Grit” reflection cards from a deck created by my phenomenal coach, Cindra Kamphoff, Ph.D., CSP, CMPC, and it struck a chord. I DO dream for a living. I dream of the world that the nonprofits I admire so deeply are working tirelessly to create. It’s the world I want my children to live in: 🌱 A world where every child has access to an excellent education, one that unlocks their unique brilliance and sets them up to thrive. 🏙️ A world where communities are vibrant and equitable, where every neighborhood is a place of opportunity, no matter the zip code. 🌍 A world where we protect our natural resources and reverse the devastating impacts of climate change, leaving a healthier planet for future generations. ❤️ A world where no lives are lost to diseases we know how to cure, and the list of incurable illnesses grows shorter every year. 🤝 A world where nonprofits have the support and resources they need to turn these dreams into reality—where funding is not a barrier but a catalyst for change. This is why I do what I do. It’s not just about raising money; it’s about creating a bridge between vision and impact.
