They say never work with animals or kids… we disagree! 👧 🐶   Our projects for commercial brands as well as for charities are shaped with the intent to treat kids like the decision-makers they are, allowing them to be heard and seen on their terms. So, yesterday did something new and went litter picking with a fabulous community group in my area called Rubbish Friends (great name isn’t it? 🤣) It’s so sad that volunteer groups have to be put together to tackle this huge problem - there’s certainly not enough help from government any more to keep our towns beautiful, but what an amazing bunch of people they were! Hard-working, determined to look after our planet, and friendly we had a fabulous couple of hours armed with bags, gloves, hi-vis and litter sticks. We chatted, we competed to see who could find the funniest piece of litter (a man who found a hymalayan salt lamp was declared the winner!) and we tidied up 25 bags of recycling, and sadly a fair few bags of landfill too. I’m astounded by the amount of vaping equipment that gets thrown away. I was completely blown away by the coming together of people from different walks of life to solve this problem together. It really works and it feels great too! 💪🏻 We are available this week for all charities, non-profits and social enterprises to get together with us, to solve any problem you are facing. From better systems, to working practices, learning new ideas or updating old ones. We want to help you! We explore the nexus of food security and national security on this week's episode of National Security This Week. My guest is Devry Boughner Vorwerk, who leads DevryVB Sustainable Strategies. Devry has served in government, in the private sector, and in non-profit work, mostly in the global agriculture sector, and she's an expert in this field. As this show aired live the day prior to Thanksgiving , it is fitting we should discuss this important topic, and then consider the impact the US can have using soft power around the world through aid, trade, and FDI in support of lifting people out of poverty, ensuring they have reliable, healthy food sources, and that their governments observe the rule of law and respect human rights. It's a heckuva lot cheaper to support this kind of soft power over the long term than it is to fund military operations in time of crisis. Smart national security policy prioritizes food security as a top-level issue in foreign affairs.
