Are you interested in how a strengths based approach to sustainability can help you engage your team, children, families and community in your quest to embed sustainability in your setting? This was the topic of my ECA Conference Presentation last week. Is this something you'd like to know more about?
Attending the Early Childhood Australia Conference in Brisbane last week was an exciting opportunity to see where the leaders in the sector are at in terms of embedding sustainability. There were some great case studies and examples of ECEC services doing great things, but there's so much untapped potential for change making. Many attendees still searching for inspiration and insights - especially as the definition of sustainability has broadened and the sustainability principle has been added to the EYLF 2.0. Many educators are struggling to make connections between their current practice and the environmental, social and economic domains of sustainability. ECEC services really do have a unique opportunity to actually make a difference for sustainability. To develop children's competencies and shape how they think and feel about sustainability, the world and their place in it. My workshop presentation centred around tapping into your strengths, and those of your team, children, families and community and discovering how you might use them FOR sustainability. When we engage people in sustainability by encouraging them to bring their skills, passions and interests to the table, engagement soars and impact is amplified! If you want to chat about how a strengths based approach to embedding sustainability could solve your problem of engaging others in your quest for embedding sustainability in your early childhood setting, reach out and lets talk.

We are calling for Asian projects to nominate for the world's biggest environmental award! ⠀ The Curt Bergfors Food Planet Prize awards $2 million to a single winning project that significantly reduces the environmental impact of the way we eat. ⠀ We were established in Sweden on August 30, 2019, in acknowledgment of the perils that our current food systems pose to the health of people and the planet and with the conviction that the ways we produce, distribute, and consume food must be radically and urgently reformed if future generations — and the planet itself — are to survive and thrive. Our vision is a well-nourished world population on a thriving planet. ⠀ Immediate action is required. ⠀ Unlike most other awards, we focus on future impact rather than past success. ⠀ The prize can be awarded to individuals or organizations in both commercial and non-commercial settings. You can nominate your own initiative or someone else's. ⠀ Right now, we are looking for more groundbreaking projects from Asia! ⠀ Nominations are always welcome, but as our selection process takes just over a year, to stand a chance of winning in 2025, submit your nominations before May 10, 2024. ⠀ Nominating a project takes just three minutes but could change the world! Nominate an initiative by link - https://lnkd.in/dD6Wu4qZ

Chief Global Affairs Officer, Times Higher Education (THE). Director General, Education World Forum. Creator of the World Academic Summit and convenor of the Global Sustainable Development Congress.
There are a LOT of sustainability events, so what makes the Global Sustainable Development Congress a must-attend? It's unwavering focus on connecting the right people to drive real change. The event is unique in placing universities at the very heart of the "quadruple helix" of sectors that need to unite to reach the goals - universities, business, government and the third sector. Universities will drive change through their creation of new knowledge and new solutions to the world's sustainability challenges, and through the development of our next generation of sustainability leaders - but they can not do it alone. So I want to say a massive thank you to all of the organisations who have signed up as partners for the event so-far: UN Environment Programme UNESCO UN Global Compact UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency ASEAN University Network Pagoda Projects Sulitest The International Academic Forum (IAFOR) How to Change the World SUMS Consulting UPME Oficial UOB We have dozens of official university partners, but a special thank you to our regional co-hosts for the Congress, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and The University of Auckland, and to our: Green Innovation partner, City University of Hong Kong Health track partner, Hong Kong Baptist University Digital track partner, Lingnan University Education track partner, University of Newcastle Sustainable cities track partner, University of Canterbury Energy track partner, University of Nottingham This event brings forward unique data on universities' impact across all 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, with specially tailored and focused content streams, to help ensure that world-changing connections are made between our 3,000 delegates. Watch this space for some big additional partner announcements soon... What went down at the WBA allies gathering? Attending the World Benchmarking Alliance (WBA) conference in Bangkok was an incredible learning experience as well as a super chance to meet some fellow Hong Kong changemakers in the space. 🌍 It highlighted the critical gap between corporate sustainability reports and real-world actions, especially in Southeast Asia where private sector engagement is crucial for achieving the SDGs. Key takeaways included the urgent need for mandatory regulations on human rights and environmental standards, tailored solutions for different sectors, and the impact of business practices on children's rights. The insights gained underscore the importance of bridging the gap between reporting and actionable progress. Dive into the insights and challenges discussed at the conference in our blog in the comments.
