The AES Corporation recently launched the AES Alamitos Battery Energy Storage System in Long Beach, California—a 100MW / 400MWh project that ranks among the world's largest lithium-ion batteries.  Designed to enhance grid stability, the Fluence-supplied system supports California's goal of 100% carbon-free electricity by 2045. It operates with a modernized 640MW combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant, replacing an older gas power plant and aligning with cleaner energy practices.  The project's four-hour storage aids peak demand, reduces reliance on natural gas, and integrates renewables.  A 20-year power purchase agreement with Southern California Edison (SCE) underscores the commitment to sustainable energy solutions, marking a significant milestone in AES Corporation's contribution to California's green energy initiatives. #WeAreGBE #GreenBridgeEnergy #RenewableEnergyNews #RenewableEnergy #CleanEnergy 

Unlocking the value of energy storage in the UK 🔋   BW ESS, together with our partner Penso Power Limited, are delighted to announce that we have signed a 7-year fixed-price tolling agreement with Shell Energy Europe for our 100MW / 330MWh Bramley project in Hampshire. This long-term deal is one of the first such agreements in the UK market, and helps to create a template for a new revenue structure that will open up energy storage market opportunities across Europe. For Bramley - one of the most sophisticated long-duration BESS assets in construction in the UK - it will secure stable long-term revenues, and an important role in the UK’s emerging load shifting and grid balancing market.
