🌊 In a recent study, DMEC's Lani Maluleke looked into spatiotemporal oxygen levels in the North Sea. The research serves as a preparatory study for our latest nature-inclusive design project on re-oxygenation potential, by using oxygen which is a byproduct of green hydrogen production. This re-oxygenation process serves as a potential strategy to mitigate the environmental impact of offshore renewable energy and hydrogen production related installations. Key findings of the study: 🌊 The North Sea remains well oxygenated on a large scale 🌊 However, the North Sea does experience coastal seasonal oxygen depletion 🌊 For future study, it might be necessary to focus research on the coastal regions and on potential local oxygen deficient regions related to offshore infrastructure in the North Sea 🌊 Re-oxygenation efforts may be tailored to these regions, rather than the whole North Sea basin For more information about this topic and our latest project on re-oxygenation, please contact Ewa Spiesz, PhD or Minja Mihajlovic. To further collaborate with the offshore wind sector, DMEC recently became a member of NedZero - Wind Energy Association, the Dutch trade organisation for wind energy. The membership of NedZero allows us to strengthen the voice of the wider offshore renewable energy sector, particularly on the topic of offshore multi-source energy parks. Also, we can offer our network even more insights in the offshore wind sector by participating in several working groups. For more information about this collaboration, please contact Sander des Tombe. #offshorewind #multiuse #offshorerenewableenergy

🛰 Interested in leveraging satellite data to optimize offshore renewable energy development? As part of the Blue-X project, we invite you to share your insights by participating in our questionnaire. By filling out the questionnaire, you'll have the opportunity to be among the first to use the innovative Blue-X Software Tool in the future. Within the Blue-X project, satellite data will be leveraged to optimize offshore renewable energy development, from site assessment, planning, construction, operations, to decommissioning. As part of this project, research association INESC TEC, in collaboration with EOMAP , set up a questionnaire aimed at involving potential end-users in the creation of the Blue-X Software Tool. The questionnaires are designed to gather insights from different stakeholders for each phase of their work: Suitability Assessment, Site Planning, Construction, Operations, and Decommissioning. The five questionnaires are available at the following links: 🔹Suitability Assessment: https://lnkd.in/evCfZth6 🔹Site Planning: https://lnkd.in/e3gFqJka 🔹Construction: https://lnkd.in/e2xigV3g 🔹Operations: https://lnkd.in/eHR7DFr6 🔹Decommissioning: https://lnkd.in/e83kMC7j Each questionnaire has an average of 10 questions and should take no more than 10 minutes to complete.
