The Football Foundation expects 2024 to be the “biggest ever year of support for grassroots clubs across #England”. One of the UK’s largest #sports charities, the organisation had a record-breaking year in 2023, during which it delivered £76 million to improve #grassroots facilities across England. It expects to exceed that figure in 2024, as it looks to hit a number of significant milestones. These include further openings of Football Foundation #PlayZones – multi-sport facilities looking to engage the four main groups facing the greatest inequalities: lower socio-economic groups; #women and #girls; ethnically diverse communities; and #disabled people and people with long-term #healthconditions. Robert Sullivan, CEO of the Football Foundation, said the organisation will provide "more great places to play than ever before" over the next 12 months. 📈 What is rugby union worth to the nation? The first-ever research into rugby union’s social value in England has unearthed a remarkable £2.03bn being contributed during the 2023/24 season alone. Tasmanian greyhound racing clubs are deeply integrated into the local community, actively supporting a wide array of grassroots organisations and initiatives. In Hobart, the Greyhound Racing Club has embraced local sporting clubs by hosting sporting clubs challenge nights that benefit a variety of clubs across sports ranging from AFL to netball, offering both direct sponsorships and opportunities to win additional funding. Similarly, the Launceston Club enriches the community with race days tailored for aged care residents, creating memorable social experiences. Moreover, a collective initiative across Tasmanian clubs culminated in a generous $35,220 donation to the Ronald McDonald House Charity, significantly enhancing the support facilities for families of children undergoing medical treatments in Hobart. These initiatives underline the greyhound racing industry’s dedication to nurturing and giving back to the communities they operate in, reinforcing their role as key players in building and sustaining local community spirit. Make the most of a sports-filled summer - an important read we wanted to share from our charity partners over at CHECT! Why not make the most of this year’s sport-filled summer and raise funds for CHECT? Here are just a few ideas on the different ways you can leverage some of the major sporting events this summer like the Euros, Olympics and Paralympics to create exciting and engaging fundraising opportunities:  Host live viewing events – organise viewing parties for the Euros, Olympics and Paralympics. Charge an entry fee which could include a meal, or sell refreshments at a local venue. Sweepstakes – sell tickets for a sweepstakes where participants draw teams or athletes and raise funds for CHECT. Calling all football fans and commercial geniuses. ⚽ 🧠 A very smart man and dear friend of mine, Jonathan Sackier - Innovator, Aviator and Health Commentator gave me some sound advice; 'If you want money, ask for advice and if you want advice, ask for money'. So here I am 'asking for advice' 😉 for a good cause of course... Men's Sunday league football doesn't get the spotlight it deserves, but it plays a crucial role in our communities. It's more than just a game - it's a lifeline for men's mental and physical health. As no.1 spectator, I see what the guys go through in their personal lives and how the team and game wash away their stresses, even if it is just for 90 mins. Now comes the challenge: how can I leverage my commercial skills and network to secure sponsorships for my team, Sungate FC for next season and give back to good cause? 🤔 In exchange for supporting the mental and physical health of Sungate FC, I would like to raise awareness of charities close to our sponsors heart. I have lots of ideas on how to do this from QR codes on kit to Instagram, but I welcome yours.
