A 20-Year Restoration: From Barren to Bountiful. 📷 in comments. In 2005, this land was fragmented, a patchwork quilt of green. Fast forward to 2023, and the same land pulses with life. This awe-inspiring transformation is a narrative of endurance, stewardship, and foresight. It's about seeding a future that blooms with diversity and resilience. This is our call to action—proof of the remarkable outcomes we can cultivate through dedication and care for our natural world. It's an invitation to nurture a legacy, one where hope and biodiversity grow hand in hand with our global community. #RestorationRevolution #GreenGrowth #Sustainability #ClimateAction #EcoInnovation #BeforeAndAfter #NatureHeals #biodiversity #conservation #biotanexus FUNDECOR
This is why we need to protect our tropical ecosystems. Take my hat off for David Reuland and his incredible landscape restoration project.

What does it mean to work with nature instead of against it? Low-tech, process-based restoration projects use natural processes as a template for restoring crucial landscapes such as wetlands and streams. We can look to beaver dams and riparian zones for shining examples of low-cost but effective restoration techniques. Read more 📲 https://ow.ly/EVnr50Qq6qU

While natural regeneration takes longer than planting, trees that naturally appear will be able to survive in the suitable conditions that were created and deliver more benefits for #biodiversity, #climate and people. 🌎 👉 Our next video on #MangroveRestoration explains how: https://lnkd.in/gu_yZdJa 🌱 Wetlands International has therefore adopted a more effective approach called Community-Based Ecological Mangrove Restoration (CBEMR) in its projects together with Mangrove Action Project (MAP). We have been building the capacity of close to 700 stakeholders worldwide to use and upscale the approach through regular CBEMR trainings. 🌱 #WeNeedWetlands #MangroveRestoration #naturebasedsolutions #WorldMangroveDay #ClimateAction #BiodiversityLoss #GenerationRestoration #ForNature The Global Mangrove Alliance has created the ‘Best Practice Guidelines for Mangrove Restoration’. 👉 Read here: https://lnkd.in/e-NT7iCy

😍 Welcome to our new series, "What a Question?" where we'll tackle common but essential questions about forest restoration. 🤔 In the first episode, Emira, our Chief Scientific Officer, will begin answering, in a series of episodes with other perspectives, the question: "Why does soil restoration matter?" Soil—a frequently overlooked but crucial part of forest restoration. Discover the answer in just 1 minute! ⏰ #forestrestauration#climatetech#carbonsequestration

Bridges 🙌 Never shy away from the idea of bridges. There often seems to be the perception that even entertaining the idea of a bridge will be so financially jarring, that there is no point entertaining the idea. Well, when you have to design a culvert structure to be 1.3x the bank fill width of the stream and embed it into the stream by 25% or greater, suddenly that cheap culvert idea isn't so cheap anymore. If you're ever considering renewing a structure or creating a new structure instream then a bridge is the best win for the environment and possibly not the most expensive (in the long-term). Some of the new multiple-box culvert structures are bloody expensive to purchase and install. TLDNR? Build a bridge and get over it! 🌉
Skies are blue, trees are green, restoration looks really good on this stream! In 20 seconds, you'll see the incredible results of restoration in action at Nulhegan Division of Silvio O. Conte National Fish and Wildlife Refuge, as a road culvert gets upgraded to a sustainable bridge, promoting safe infrastructure for people and healthier habitats for brook trout, wood turtles, freshwater mussels, and more. Culvert replacements are one of the nature-based solutions funded through the Inflation Reduction Act, the largest climate investment in history. For more on how the IRA is funding conservation across the Northern Forest, visit https://ow.ly/IJ9t50T8YAp A big thanks to our partners, the Connecticut River Conservancy, and their work on this beautiful bridge construction. Video description: funky, upbeat music plays as a timelapse video of a road with a large culvert under it is gradually torn down by workers and machines, and is replaced by a sturdy bridge with a stream flowing underneath

@Sarah Frias-Torres is so right. And I'd go even further. Those of us implementing projects in the field ARE SO FED-UP of all the talk, the pledges, the calls for action, webinars masquerading as action, strategies that dont have funding attached, the ENDLESS international blah, blah, blah summits....and yes the GREAT PROMISE that the business case is what will save conservation.
