In today's rapidly evolving world, the concept of #allyship transcends beyond merely supporting underrepresented or minority groups. True allyship is about embracing and advocating for ALL individuals, regardless of their backgrounds, beliefs, or identities. This inclusive approach is especially crucial in the context of the LGBTQ community, as well as other cultures and peoples. Our various cultures, influenced by family, friends, and community norms, have historically shaped our perceptions and interactions. However, envisioning a future where these diverse cultures blend into a singular, harmonious global culture necessitates a deep commitment to allyship. This commitment means not only standing with those who are different from us but also engaging constructively with those whom we might oppose or disagree with. Everyone is welcomed at the table of Allies. Allyship, in its most effective form, is indiscriminate and inclusive. It fosters dialogues and builds bridges, paving the way for a unified global community. In this context, supporting the LGBTQ community, along with other diverse groups, becomes imperative. It's about recognizing our shared humanity and working collaboratively towards a world where everyone is valued, respected, and empowered. Embracing this broad spectrum of allyship is not just morally right; it is essential for our survival as a unified global culture. It's about breaking down barriers, challenging preconceived notions, and building a world where diversity is celebrated as a strength. In doing so, we lay the foundation for a more understanding, compassionate, and inclusive global society. #KeepMovingForward #Allyship #Sapiens #UNITY

As we continue to celebrate Pride Month, we're thrilled to introduce Danny Cabral, an inspiring professional at SimplePractice. Danny’s journey, from embracing his identity to championing inclusivity, offers valuable insights and motivation for us all. Q: Why is it important to support and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community at work? A: "It is important because even though we are in a professional setting, an individual’s identity and the characteristics that make them unique are important to support/celebrate. This helps an individual feel seen and valued within a collective." Q: How has being part of the LGBTQ+ community influenced your career and work life? A: "When I accepted who I was there was a huge realization where I knew I wanted my work life to reflect that. I started as a speech-language pathologist where my goal was to help all people gain the skills to communicate their needs and wants. Whereas now my goal is to help other healthcare providers navigate running a successful business so they can give back to others." Q: What initiatives or practices at SimplePractice make you feel supported and included as an LGBTQ+ individual or ally? A: "The official induction of the ERG I found has been one of the greatest ways I feel supported here at the company." #PrideMonth #CelebrateDiversity #WorkplaceEquality

June is a month bursting with significance, and as a proud black woman-owned, minority business, we stand at the intersection of celebration and advocacy. 🌈 Pride Month - This June, let's amplify our voices in support of LGBTQ+ rights. Did you know? A recent study shows that 46% of LGBTQ+ workers report being closeted at work. It's time for change! 🧠 Men's Mental Health Month- We acknowledge the silent struggle many men face. Statistically, 1 in 10 men experience depression and anxiety, yet less than half seek treatment. 🎊 Juneteenth - This Juneteenth, we remember that 156 years ago, the last enslaved African Americans learned they were free. This momentous day marks a critical point in our history. Dr. Rashonda Harris, our founder, eloquently connects these themes: "June invites us to reflect on our shared struggles and victories. Whether it’s fighting for LGBTQ+ rights, advocating for mental health awareness, or honoring the significance of Juneteenth, each battle moves us closer to a society that cherishes diversity and inclusivity." Join us in celebrating the richness of June and contribute to creating a more inclusive and supportive world. #PurpleSheepConsulting #FabulousFridays #PrideMonth #MensMentalHealth #Juneteenth #Inclusivity #Diversity #Change Let's make every day fabulous! 🐑💜

"People avoid having these difficult conversations. They're worried they'll get it wrong so they just stay away." Here’s a short clip from a Squash workshop on being an ally to the LGBTQ+ community. Having conversations that are considered uncomfortable are such an important part of this work. We use drama to normalise this discomfort and equip participants with the skills they need to have meaningful conversations. We speak with characters one-on-one (Hot-Seating) to understand their experience of bias and inequality, which has proven to be a powerful way of fostering empathy and awareness in the workplace. To find out more about our approach to challenging bias and humanising DEI, book in a free 30 minute consultation here: https://lnkd.in/euJnkmNS #unconsciousbias #allyship #SquashBias

I had the pleasure of attending the Market Research Society (MRS) Pride SHOW UP! Insights Summit yesterday 🌈. A huge thanks to MRSPride for hosting another impactful event, bringing together LGBTQ+ researchers and allies to delve deeper into the realities of LGBTQ+ life today and shine a spotlight on some of the incredible research with, and within, the queer community. Some key takeaways that really stood out to me: ➡ Understand your audience from the inside out. As opposed to projecting hypothetical views of culture onto your audience, understand who they are as people first and, from there, weave culture into that. ➡ Diverse casting isn’t the answer, context and culture are. Casting without culture is tokenism and culture without casting is appropriation. ➡ Diversity matters from the get-go! It’s crucial to embed diverse voices at the very beginning of any research or project. ➡ Inclusion is about both learning and unlearning. By confronting personal biases and removing the pressures of perfection, we can foster deeper awareness and understanding of the communities we’re seeking to understand. ➡ Targeted community research can help brands better understand the nuances of diverse communities and connect culture and creative. Get to know your audience, learn about their lives, and engage with them regularly and consistently if you can. Plenty of food for thought, with some powerful examples of how research can truly drive meaningful change. Thanks MRSPride 🙌 . #Inclusion #DiversityMatters #LGBTQResearch #AuthenticRepresentation #MRSPride

Ready to launch my new Hispanic Heritage Month Fireside Chat “Get Your Sh*t Together: How to truly close the opportunity gap for Latina business leaders at your company (or non-profit) This is a talk for non Latine executives, policymakers, and investors who have the power to make significant changes but can’t seem to get their sh*t together. Moving forward I want to do speaking engagements that focus on systemic change and putting the responsibility back to the people who have the power and influence to make things happen. Of course, I’ll continue teaching Latine, LGBTQ+, and women of color how to build an unstoppable brand… But just like my chat on the Power of the Latine Consumer, I want to use my voice to connect with leaders who can take immediate action! Because marginalized folks can’t continue to take all the responsibility of pushing back for policies and systems they didn’t even create. So if your team needs to get their sh*t together, let’s chat! https://lnkd.in/ejJ4M8Td

Great timing for the release of this article on supporting Queer folks in the career space, both as an individual and as an organization, from the National Association of Colleges and Employers. Today, Worcester Polytechnic Institute's Heebner Career Development Center held our Employer Advisory Counsel, where we discussed the impact of community on early career talent recruitment and retention What ideas would you add? How is your organization doing in this realm? "Being an ally of the LGBTQ+ community isn’t just one thing, according to Cody A. Rapp and Riky Hanlan, who lead the LGBTQ & Allies NACE Affinity Group and explain that allyship looks different, sounds different, and feels different to everyone in the LGBTQ+ community, and, therefore, is challenging to define." https://lnkd.in/eCxxMUCq

I had the privilege of hosting a conversation with Layla McCay, author of the groundbreaking book "Breaking the Rainbow Ceiling: How LGBTQ+ People Can Thrive and Succeed at Work," as part of our Pride Month celebrations at Diligent. Dr. McCay, a healthcare policy powerhouse (currently Director of Policy at NHS Confederation and formerly at WHO and World Bank), shared invaluable insights on building truly inclusive workplaces. We dove into some eye-opening topics including: - The "rainbow ceiling": What it means and how it can hold back LGBTQ+ professionals. - Dr. McCay's personal journey: How she overcame obstacles to build a thriving career. - LGBTQ+ leadership strengths: The unique perspectives we bring to the table (with examples from her book!). - Combatting imposter syndrome: Strategies to foster authenticity at work. - Targeted support & allyship: Including actionable steps organizations can take to be more inclusive. If you're passionate about creating workplaces where everyone can flourish, I can't recommend Layla's book more highly. My thanks to the Diligent Pride ERG for making this happen! #PrideMonth #LGBTQInclusion #BreakingTheRainbowCeiling #InclusiveWorkplaces #LifeatDiligent
