“The systems of dominance and oppression are orchestrated in such a way that there is no war in this world that we’re not somehow implicated in, whether it’s through our tax dollars, pension funds, university endowments, especially if you’re located in the global north.” - Dr. Nisrin Elamin Our shared humanity, feminism, and commitment to the world we dream of demands our collective efforts. We must keep our eyes, heart and action on Sudan, Palestine, and Congo. Call to action from our Sudanese community: 📢Listen and amplify: Listen to Sudanese activists, especially girls and women and amplify their voices and leadership and ensure you are amplifying their needs and demands. 🌱Move resources: There continues to be almost no funding going to Sudan. On this momentous day, we stand together to honor the Haitian people's courage, resilience, and unyielding spirit. Today, we commemorate the birth of the first black republic, a nation that boldly declared "no" to the shackles of oppression and became a beacon of hope for the world. Haiti's journey, marked by the triumph over slavery, remains a testament to the strength that arises when a people unite against injustice. The echoes of history reverberate through the challenges faced today as Haiti grapples with the complexities of its past and the struggle for true independence. It's disheartening to witness Haiti's current situation, managed by forces that may not fully grasp the depth of our people's struggles. As we navigate through these trying times, let us not forget the saying from Burkina Faso – "The first to say no get destroyed, but if we say no together, they can't go against one voice as one." Unfortunately, Haiti said no first and alone for being isolated in the American continent. As we step into 2024, let this be a year of transformation. A year where democracy prevails and the voice of the Haitian people is heard loud and clear. We strive for a Haiti that is free from external influence and interference. To the ancestors who fought for freedom, Womenful Voice stands shoulder to shoulder with you. Your sacrifices will not go unnoticed or be in vain. We are committed to continuing your work advocating for a better Haiti and a better world. In 2024, we aim to amplify the voices of the most vulnerable – the women and girls of Haiti. Through advocacy and action, we seek to improve their lives and contribute to building a more equitable society. As we celebrate Haitian Independence Day, let us remember that the end of the first slavery marked the beginning of a more humane world. Let this serve as a reminder that our fight is not only for Haiti but for the betterment of humanity as a whole. To everyone who believes in the power of change, join us in this journey. Together, let's create a future where Haiti thrives independently, voices are heard, and the legacy of freedom lives on. 🇭🇹❤️ Happy Independence Day, Haiti! ❤️🇭🇹 #HaitianIndependenceDay #UnityInFreedom #WomenfulVoice #Haiti2024

With celebration of international women’s day we can’t forget that lives of women, girls, elderly women and baby girls, infants lives were stollen during genocide in Gaza as we speak with bombs, desease, starvation… and West Bank atrocities are continues….Huge displacement and genocide in Sudan, Congo, displacement women and children in Rwanda. Attacks and killing in Syria, South Lebanon, Yemen. Women’s and girls casualties during US proxy war in Ukraine. While Ughur, East Turkistan ,women forced into abortion and removal of wombs to decrease Muslim population. As much I would like to celebrate women’s day, I have minute of silence for those brave women who had to risk theirs lives to save their family and give medical aid, putting their lives before everyone else and who lost theirs lives…. In this time we can’t celebrate empowerment of women and stay complicit with genocide in the same time. We can be either ignorant or arrogant, but we can’t be both in the same time. Next time when you advocating for Black Lives Matter, Femminism, women empowerment let’s remember what actually you did to speak for other women, to contribute toward supporting our sisters around the world or raising issues locally. Remember someone is benefiting from your silence. Happy international woman’s day 🫶🏼 #freepalestinenow #ceasefirenow #sudangenocide #syria #lebanon #internationalwomensday2024 #womenempowerment #no2nato #stopproxywarinukraine #rwanda #FreePalestine #Palestine #Gaza #Solidarity #EndOccupation #HumanRights #JusticeForPalestine #IsraeliOccupation #PalestinianRights #PeaceForPalestine

👐 Sudanese feminist activists are the foundation of the resistance and are at the frontlines of emergency response, despite being disproportionately impacted by the crises. Colonialism and imperialism left a legacy of arbitrary borders, economic exploitation, marginalisation, war, chronic political instability, and genocide in Sudan. As of today, the whole country is in an ongoing humanitarian crisis, with millions of people displaced, thousands killed this year alone, hunger-related deaths, and girls and women experiencing violence and sexual abuse. Urgent attention, solidarity and support are needed in Sudan. #OurStrugglesAreConnected. We must work together to create change. From Sudan to Palestine, Afghanistan to Armenia, from Congo to Tigray, none of us are free until we all are. The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is in a severe humanitarian crisis due to conflict and violence, worsened by attacks from the M23 armed group, backed by Rwanda. 6.5 million are internally displaced and 25.4 million need urgent assistance. Epidemics and climate shocks worsen the situation. Pax Christi International stands in solidarity with the victims and asks: 🔹 To the United Nations and European Union: Prioritise the DRC crisis in their agendas, halt violence, and provide consistent aid. Dialogue is key, and weapons trade must be closely monitored. 🔹To Global North decision-makers: Assess their economic impact and promote peace processes, respecting Human and Environmental Rights. 🔹To international civil society: Continue promoting dialogue and supporting affected populations, by keeping engaging young people for a better future, planning paths of reparations and historical justice. "We support any nonviolent means that you, the people of DRC are engaged in to build harmonious, just, caring communities which are values that are passed on to children and youth through the African cultures.” Read and share the full statement (in EN, FR, ES), available on our website. #nonviolence #DRCongo https://lnkd.in/erQzsZhC

Today, South Africa celebrates 30 years of freedom and democracy. On April 27, 1994, millions of South Africans, young and old, decided their own futures for the first time, a fundamental right they had been denied by a white minority government. Let's remember the heroes who fought for freedom and equality and acknowledge the challenges that still need to be addressed. Unemployment, inequality and poverty are still major issues in South Africa, with an official unemployment rate of 32% and youth unemployment at 59.4%. Let's work together towards a future where all South Africans can enjoy the full spectrum of rights and freedoms promised by the Constitution. Today and every day, we honour the sacrifices and struggles of those who fought for our freedom. Let us recommit to building a nation that is just, equal, and free for all🇿🇦 Happy Freedom Day, South Africa! #TheElements #ConstitutionalLiteracy #FreedomDay #SouthAfrica #Democracy #Unity #Justice #Equality #FreedomForAll #KnowYourRights #WeThePeople

Peacebuilding Through Reconciliation: Healing Historical Wounds with Truth The scars of history often fester beneath the surface of conflict, poisoning the present and threatening the future. Misinformation, bias, and distorted narratives can perpetuate grievances, stoking resentment and fueling ongoing violence. To truly build peace, we must confront these historical wounds, not with denial or suppression, but with the healing balm of truth. The Poison of Misinformation: Historical narratives, passed down through generations, can become warped by time, bias, and political agendas. These distorted narratives, often rife with misinformation, create a sense of "us vs. them," breeding mistrust and justifying continued conflict. In Rwanda, for example, narratives blaming one ethnic group for a past tragedy fueled the horrific genocide of 1994. Truth and Reconciliation Commissions: Shining a Light on the Past: Truth and reconciliation commissions (TRCs) offer a powerful antidote to the poison of misinformation. These independent bodies systematically investigate past human rights abuses and historical injustices, creating a factual record and exposing the truth. By giving voice to victims and acknowledging past wrongs, TRCs can begin to heal the wounds of the past and lay the groundwork for lasting peace. Shared Stories, Shared Future: The process of reconciliation goes beyond mere facts and figures. Storytelling plays a crucial role in fostering empathy and understanding. Projects like the Kigali Genocide Memorial in Rwanda weave personal narratives into the historical fabric, allowing visitors to connect with the human cost of conflict and contemplate pathways to reconciliation. Collaborative initiatives, where members of previously divided communities come together to create shared historical representations, can further break down barriers and build trust. Building a Brighter Future: Peacebuilding through reconciliation is a long and arduous journey, but it is a necessary one. By confronting historical misinformation with truth, promoting shared narratives and fostering empathy through storytelling, we can begin to heal the wounds of the past and build a future where communities thrive together, not fueled by the ghosts of yesterday. Let's commit to embracing truth, confronting historical injustices and using the power of shared stories to pave the way for a more peaceful and equitable world. #MisinformationAwareness #MediaLiteracy #DigitalLiteracy #Peacebuilding #TruthInMedia United Nations World Health Organization The World Bank World Economic Forum USAID UN Women UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency United People Global
