Imagine such a space, where egos and fears of losing out were left behind and where achieving the mission is considered greater than the sum of its parts. 👉 One Voice, One Hope - the launch webinar - September 23rd. From Autumn 2024, The Jordan Legacy CIC is proposing an initiative called 'One Voice, One Hope', a national collaborative network for suicide prevention and we are inviting all those to join us, who believe we can significantly reduce 6000+ deaths each year in the UK by preventing all preventable suicides. In our community of healthcare providers, it’s vital that we discuss not just the clinical aspects but also the emotional toll of supporting individuals at such critical points in their lives. There is evidence that media reports about suicide can enhance or weaken suicide prevention efforts. Widely disseminated stories of death by suicide are often followed by more suicides in the population, while stories of overcoming a suicidal crisis can lead to fewer suicides. Relink.org would like to share an article from the Health Policy Institute of Ohio with new data on suicide in Ohio. This new resource includes visualizations on suicide prevalence and trends in Ohio, geographic differences in suicide rates and changes in mental health challenges among Ohio high school students. It also includes a list of resources to improve suicide prevention in Ohio. HPIO noted that five people die by suicide every day. Suicide is a leading cause of death in the United States. This World Suicide Prevention Day the theme is "Changing the Narrative on Suicide" with the call to action "Start the Conversation" which aims to raise awareness about the importance of reducing stigma and encouraging open conversations to prevent suicides. Use these tools and resources from ACEP to help start those conversations and raise awareness in the ED.

September is National Suicide Prevention Month, and today, September 10th, is World Suicide Prevention Day.  This is an important reminder of the critical work we as mental healthcare workers do, and a time to reflect and renew our call to action by engaging in conversations that help others talk about suicide without stigma. Conversations save lives!  According to the World Health Organization, "suicide is a major public health challenge, with more than 700,000 deaths each year globally." This year's Carrier Clinic theme for National Suicide Prevention Month is "Be The One".  Essentially, Be the One to ask someone about suicide; Be the One to show you care; and Be the One to save a life. 🚨Exciting news! I am thrilled to be a part of clinical efforts in HEALTH EQUITY, as the subject matter expert for this training. 1330 reviews is exciting!!!! That’s 1330 more folks engaging in cultural intentionality! This clinical training program is a critical step forward in mental health. It prioritizes multi-cultural case conceptualization of race, ethnicity, culture, and intersectional identities within suicide prevention. It's unfortunate that many clinical programs don’t train exclusively in suicide prevention and cultural intentionality. However, this training program will help us better serve our minoritized communities in health and wellness. If this is true, something is wrong and needs to be changed in the way our current society and culture are structured: - the pandemic of loneliness. - our health system and the way we understand mental health. - the ways we connect or disconnect from each other. - our individual and societal values. - our lack of connection to nature. - the way we approach the current gender conversation and political polarization. - the stigmas around mental health. - the over-reliance on social media and false online gurus. - the speed at which we believe we have to live our lives. - our definitions of success. - the shame we experience around not meeting certain expectations. - ...among many others.
