🚀 Exciting Collaboration Announcement! 🚀 Thrilled to share that the SMART and HEI4Future projects have officially joined forces! 🌐 Last December, the consortia of both projects signed a Memorandum of Understanding to explore mutually beneficial synergies and collaborations. 🌟 HEI4Future, funded by EIT Urban Mobility, focuses on developing entrepreneurship and open innovation skills among students in mobility, health, and manufacturing. Coordinated by Universidade de Vigo (Spain), it includes partners across Europe, including University College of Northern Denmark, Aleksandër Xhuvani University of Elbasan (Albania), University of Lisbon (Portugal), PowerHUB (Czech Republic), Odessa National Medical University - Royal Education World (Ukraine), and Fondazione Politecnico di Milano (Italy) – a partner of the SMART project. 🤝 Despite different funding programs and objectives, both projects share a common goal: strengthening Higher Education Institutions to tackle pressing challenges and fostering collaboration between academia and the business sector. 💡 The collaboration has already borne fruit, with the Startups4Future acceleration program – part of HEI4Future – opening its doors to SMART partners in 2024. The #FORTIS consortium is pleased to announce the participation of its partner, Garcia, Garcia SA, in the Portuguese mission to Norway, organized by the Cluster Habitat Sustentável and Proptech Innovation with the support of the EEA and Norway Grants program and Innovation Norway. This mission, which took place in Bergen from September 10-11, focused on fostering collaboration between Portuguese companies and Norwegian startups, with an emphasis on #circulareconomy initiatives in the #constructionsector. Key highlights included the exploration of projects that set ambitious goals for the reuse of #constructionmaterials and the use of robotics for tasks such as heavy load cutting and transport. Notably, projects like #Pantheon and #Føniks aim for nearly 100% reuse of #buildingmaterials, supported by technologies like #Kontiki and #BirdsView are paving the way for digitalizing and characterizing the built environment as well as Rockslicer addressing precision excavation. Aligned with FORTIS Project ’s mission to promote the use of #robotics, #digitalization, and #humanrobotinteraction in construction, this mission strengthens our commitment to addressing industry challenges such as #sustainability and automation in the circular economy. A project manager from InnoScot has called on Scotland's innovators, researchers, and entrepreneurs to “unlock the potential” of Horizon – the world’s largest collaborative research programme. Her words follow the recent successful Horizon Europe event in Glasgow organised by University of Glasgow, ourselves and partners. InnoScot Health Project Manager Paula Sweeten said: “Fundamentally, the flagship programme can boost Scotland’s innovation capacity, fast track new ideas to market, not to mention enhance our competitiveness while creating new jobs. We must be alive to what Horizon Europe can lend to our forward-thinking innovators." The £80 billion research, development and innovation programme is designed to help ambitious small to medium-sized businesses grow and scale through the development and commercialisation of new innovations. Thanks to an agile and inclusive network, the programme can also offer significant opportunities to collaborate with international partners. Sweeten states, “Fundamentally, the flagship programme can boost Scotland’s innovation capacity, fast track new ideas to market, not to mention enhance our competitiveness while creating new jobs. We must be alive to what Horizon Europe can lend to our forward-thinking innovators." Last November, ANI | Agência Nacional de Inovação organized an event in Lisbon with around 250 participants, within the celebrations of 🎂 30 years of innovation agencies in #Portugal. Under the theme Innovation and Technological Valorization towards Sustainable Development Goals #SDGs, the event promoted best practices and networking among 4 different ecosystems: ➡ Collaborative Laboratories #CoLABs ➡ Research and Technology Organisations #CTIs ➡ Technology Transfer Offices #TTOs ➡ Startups participating on the Born from Knowledge #BfK ideas competition. The event started with a focus on improvement and growth, featuring sessions on best practices and success stories. Participants had also the opportunity to learn more about #SustainableFundingOpportunities with different entities, as well as they participated in workshops about collaborative branding or productization. Finally, all the ecosystems split to analyze the results of the current year, and devised strategies for the challenges ahead. Parallel to those activities, 21 teams competed on the semifinal and final of the 8th edition of the 🏆 BfK Ideas National Competition. The event finished with a networking after-party, celebrating the 3 winning projects.
