As National Preparedness Month ends, here is our last tip for you. ▶️Criminals look to take advantage of crisis events – whether facing a hurricane or a pandemic, there are certain to be many scams that pop up in their wake. If you receive emails or texts asking for relief donations, be sure to validate that the source is legitimate before you send funds.

Recovering from a severe storm is never easy. In fact, for those directly impacted in the Big Bend region, it can be an extremely devastating, stressful, and traumatic event. To help those communities hardest hit by Hurricane Idalia, Florida Blue has announced an initial $100,000 donation to support relief and recovery efforts across the state of Florida. This initial investment will be split between the American Red Cross in Florida and Volunteer Florida's Disaster Fund. ·    $50,000 will be directed to the American Red Cross in Florida to help address immediate needs. ·    $50,000 will be directed to Volunteer Florida to address long-term recovery efforts. In addition to our initial donation, we have launched several resources to support the health and well-being of Floridians impacted by the storm – regardless of their insurance status. Hurricane Beryl is the earliest ever Category 5 hurricane recorded in the Atlantic. Homes were shattered, communities levelled, and lives were tragically lost. Here’s how you can support: The Rév Foundation is raising monetary donations and in-kind supplies in collaboration with Deborah Cox to directly support those affected. 1. We know so many were affected by the recent Hurricane Beryl, and all of us at KTB are thinking of everyone during this difficult time of clean-up and rebuilding. If there is one thing we know about our community and Texans in general, it is that so many of us are ready to give back when duty calls. We have pulled together a list of organizations providing assistance to the areas affected by the storm. Thanks to The Texas Tribune for these suggestions: The Houston Food Bank has a disaster relief fund accepting monetary donations for food, water and other necessary supplies. Rapid deployment hurricane resistant structures for disaster management are critical during the rebuilding process when a major hurricane event affects the Caribbean region. We have partnered with aid agencies who will work with your government to facilitate.

As recovery from Tuesday’s tornadoes begins, United Way of South Central Michigan and Kalamazoo Community Foundation (KZCF) are joining in collaboration to lend our shared strengths to relief efforts. We are working alongside partners at Gryphon Place and 211 as they identify community needs and determine how best to mobilize resources.
