Summer Fancy Food 2024 in New York showcased the evolution of many of our forecasted trends, across alcohol alternatives, fortified snacks, elevated convenience and globally inspired sauces and condiments. Snack opportunities are expanding - in the US, snacking accounted for 50% of all eating occasions in 2023, up from 47% in 2019. Non-alcoholic drinks are evolving: 23% of global consumers increased their consumption of non-alcoholic alternative beverages.

Gen Z is redefining snacking with a focus on health and sustainability. According to the Mondelez commissioned Harris poll survey, nearly 3,700 global consumers over the age of 18 were asked about their attitudes toward the snack category. Similar to previously reported years, Mondelez found that approximately 60% of shoppers prefer snacks or smaller meals more frequently as opposed to traditional meals. Our annual Food & Drink Report 2023-24 is here! 🙌 We’ve taken a look back on the last decade of shopping and eating habits, and reviewed trends from the last 12-months. Here are some highlights: 💚 High protein, gut friendly foods, low and no alcohol and canned cocktails among trends that defined 2023 🥔 Trends left behind - vegetable crisps, ready-made jacket potatoes, and low fat dairy 🍽 A third of our Food and Drink survey respondents (32%) told us they’re regularly eating classic dishes such as shepherd’s pie and macaroni cheese 🥛 One in 8 (12%) adults surveyed told us they have changed their diet over the past year to eat more protein and in store, high-protein drinks and yogurts are up 39% 🍺 Sales of no or low-alcohol beer, cider, wines and spirits are up 23% and demand is continuing to grow.
