Great listen, makes you ponder hiring decisions you have made and their individual outcomes. I’ve personally hiried from both the “silver spoons” and “scrappers” groups of individuals. Both have brought benefit and both have had their challenges. The leadership you bring to the table can define either individuals success or failure in the role. Never underestimate the “scrapper” when you have powerful leadership skills!

Who are you going to hire? Many hiring managers ask us (HR) to find candidates that are perfect and flawless and meet A, B, C…. Criteria. My take; always go with your instinct, give chance to those who have passion, are eager, are open to learn and are hustlers. And in order you can chose those hidden stars, you need to disrupt your thought process. It is more than ok to choose people who have flaws, who have failed, who have gaps and don’t have fancy university credentials but have refused to give up and stand before you with honesty. So next time when you have a choice, don’t look for perfection, go with your gut feeling and take a bet ;) #hr #hiring #recruitment #selection #change

Passion and Purpose! I’ll say it again…Passion and Purpose! So many people lack this in so many ways. I bet at one point they had it. How does one lose it?? Leaders who who don’t allow creativity, don’t build their people up, lack of trust, or micromanagement? Could also be something internal or innate but circles back around to Leadership in my opinion; if they are employed under your leadership build them up, find something they can be passionate about with a purpose. So many people find the status quo just going to work and punching the time card routinely with zero passsion or purpose. You only live once and there is no reset button. Do your best and make a difference. Passion and Purpose!
