Thank you Hopelab for centering youth voices through their 2024 National Survey on the critically important issue of social media and mental health. Not surprisingly, the results are mixed. Young people find support and community through social media. They also struggle with the negative impacts such as shaming and harassment on these platforms." In light of the recent feature in the Islington Tribune, it's heartening to see the crucial conversation around racism in therapy gaining momentum. The journey towards truly inclusive therapeutic practices is both necessary and overdue. 🌟 Reflecting on my own experiences and the formation of Bempong Talking Therapy, it's clear that the path to change begins with acknowledging the profoundly ingrained biases within our training and practice. The predominance of a singular perspective in psychological models underscores the need for a more diverse and inclusive approach. How can we, as a community, work towards dismantling these barriers? It involves more than just recognizing the diversity of experiences; it requires embedding this understanding into the fabric of our therapeutic practices. Let's discuss actionable steps we can take to enrich our profession with cultural consciousness and ensure therapy is accessible and relevant to everyone. Your insights and experiences are invaluable as we navigate this transformative journey together. #InclusiveTherapy #WednesdayWisdom #ChangeMakers 🌈 Read more about this critical discussion here: https://rebrand.ly/gu6bmk7.

It’s Time for Neuroinclusion to Get the Recognition it Deserves – Let’s Change the Dictionary and Workplace Together! #INCLUDEneuroINCLUSION October is ADHD and Disability Acceptance Month, and in partnership with Dan Harris Neurodiversity in Business (NiB) - the Neurodiversity Charity we're calling on YOU to help us take a crucial step toward change. Here’s the deal: Neurodivergent people are battling daily in workplaces designed for one type of mind. We’re not talking about a small group—millions of people are barely getting by in environments that overlook their strengths and needs. That’s not just unfair; it’s a crisis. We need "neuroinclusion" to be more than a buzzword. We need it officially recognized in Merriam-Webster and Oxford Dictionary to legitimize the conversation and create real change. Because when a word enters the dictionary, it becomes part of our culture—it sends the message that neurodivergent people matter. But we can't do this alone. Your voice can push this forward. Sign the petition today and be part of a movement that makes workplaces better for everyone. It’s time to stop talking about change and start making it happen. Please repost and share with your networks. 👉 https://lnkd.in/eJVvA7Td The future where ALL minds are valued starts with this small, powerful step. Are you in?

May marks Mental Health Awareness Month, an important time to shine a spotlight on the diverse experiences within our communities. Today, I want to emphasize the unique intersection of race and gender in mental health, particularly focusing on the experiences of Black women. Black women often face multiple layers of discrimination and societal pressures, which can significantly impact their mental well-being. From systemic racism and gender bias to stereotypes about strength and resilience, the challenges they encounter are multifaceted and complex. Despite these obstacles, Black women are often less likely to seek help for their mental health due to various cultural stigmas and barriers to accessing care. It's crucial to create spaces where they feel heard, understood, and supported in their journeys toward healing and self-care. As we observe Mental Health Awareness Month, let's commit to amplifying the voices of Black women, advocating for culturally competent mental health resources, and working towards a more equitable and inclusive mental health landscape for all. #MentalHealthAwareness #BlackWomenMatter #stigma #dei #wellbeing #intersectionality

🌈 Celebrating Neurodiversity Week 🌈 Our latest DEIB survey revealed 21% of our workforce are neurodivergent. Neurodiversity encompasses a range of neurological differences, including but not limited to autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other cognitive differences. Embracing neurodiversity is not just about inclusivity; it's about leveraging the diverse talents of all our team members to drive innovation, creativity, and success. Following our insightful and rewarding partnership with Aubilities, this week we have refreshed and relaunched the Neurodiversity support tool, whereby our employees can access a platform with a variety of content dedicated to raise awareness and education about neurodiversity. Alongside this, our Senior Talent Acquisition Manager, Sinead Vidler, also put her learnings together in this article https://lnkd.in/eCpd-i8A all about how our partnership with Aubilities has changed the way we run our hiring process, adopting a more neuro-inclusive approach for all candidates. We will be encouraging our Fusers to access the Neurodiversity platform, whether they attend events, engage in discussions, or simply taking the time to learn more about neurodiversity and its significance in the workplace. #neurodiversitycelebrationweek #embraceyouruniqueness #createawareness #opportunitiesforall #diversetalent

This week, as we observe Neurodiversity Week, I am reminded of the incredible richness that neurodiverse individuals bring to our workplaces, communities, and lives. Neurodiversity highlights the importance of understanding and embracing the differences in our brain makeup. It’s a call to recognise that individuals who think, learn, and process information differently - including those with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other neurological conditions - are not just to be included but valued for the unique perspectives and talents they bring. This week, let’s take an extra moment to educate ourselves about neurodiversity, challenge stereotypes, and celebrate the achievements and contributions of neurodiverse individuals around us. Together, we can create a more inclusive world that recognizes the strengths in our differences. Let’s continue to learn from each other, embrace diversity in all its forms, and build a community where everyone feels they belong. #NeurodiversityWeek #Inclusion #Diversity #Empowerment

✨ ♾️ Neuroinclusive recruitment and onboarding that supports and promotes good mental health - how can it be done? 💚 ✨ Delighted to be a guest at a roundtable today with Natalie Lightfoot at Oliver James to talk about one of my favourite topics and more! Although it's been a while since I changed jobs (though you might argue that each introductory session with a potential client / collaborator is an interview), I've recently helped two of my coaching clients secure jobs that meet their neurodivergent needs 🎉 (and yes, navigating the process was a journey!). #neurodiversitycelebrationweek #neuroinclusion (I wish LinkedIn's hashtag suggestions had camel case in it)
🌟 Excited to Celebrate Neurodiversity Week with a Roundtable Discussion! 🌟 I'm thrilled to announce a roundtable discussion focused on Neurodiversity, a topic that holds immense significance in fostering inclusive workplaces. Tomorrow, we have the honour of hosting Alicja ('Aleetsya') Nocon, a renowned Autism & auDHD Experience Coach and Speaker, whose journey from the financial services sector to neurodiversity advocacy has been truly inspiring. Alicja's personal journey, marked by her diagnosis of the autism spectrum in 2020, has fueled her passion for empowering late-diagnosed individuals and advocating for inclusive workplace practices. Her expertise lies in enabling organizations to recognize and harness the unique strengths of neurodivergent talent, making workplaces more welcoming and supportive for all. We're excited to announce that our panel will feature HR professionals and hiring managers from the financial services sector, contributing to a diverse range of perspectives and insights. During our roundtable, we'll explore key areas such as supporting neurodiverse candidates throughout the recruitment process, enhancing onboarding practices for inclusivity, and addressing the crucial aspect of mental health support in the workplace. Join us in celebrating Neurodiversity Week by engaging in meaningful dialogue and learning from Alicja's invaluable insights. Want me to tell you something they don’t tell you when it comes to therapy? Just because they say they are therapist, doesn’t mean they can be your therapist The fact is if you do not connect with your therapist, if they do not understand the background you’re from, you’re wasting your time and your money, and that’s the hard truth of the matter! This is why many people get therapy and then give up after a few sessions, because it doesn’t work out. Maybe you’re one of those people? When it comes to therapy, your therapist must come from a similar background and community you fall into, to understand your social experience. A lack of this is why many marginalised communities, such as Black people and people of colour, people with neurodiversity issues, and the LGBTQ+ communities struggle when it comes to therapy. Life factors compound with intersectionality, and if this is not addressed from the beginning when you search for your therapist, unfortunately, you’re going to waste a lot of time and money, looking for the one that fits. That is why I would recommend #BetterHelp, they are the first therapy service that asks you a range of questions, so they can recommend the best therapist for you. This is an absolute godsend for those who need therapy and don’t have time and money to waste looking for the one! When I say those who need therapy, I’m speaking to every one of you, whether you are in a good place or a bad place we all need therapy. We all need a professional who we can talk to regularly about the stresses of life. Check out better on the link below, find yourself a therapist, it’s a very important part of staying healthy. https://lnkd.in/e6CwM2Xr MHFA England® and Simon Blake OBE CCMI this would be an extremely valuable resource for the MHFA supporter APP! #therapy #counselingservices #mentalhealthcontinuum #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthandlife
