The three-letter codes assigned to airports worldwide (such as JFK for John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York) follow standardized conventions established by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). These codes provide a quick and universal way to identify airports in airline schedules, ticketing systems, and navigation charts. #TAVTechnologies #airport #technology #NowYouKnow

I know Wizz Air have London Gatwick slots to use, but wow and ouch in equal measure. The outbound from LGW leaves at 22:00 and arrives in IST at 04:05, which is similar to some Pegasus and AnadoluJet flights from STN back to SAW, Aegean and BA flights from LHR to ATH, and one overnight Turkish flight from LHR back to IST. But the inbound… #airlines #aviation

Too soon? 🧐 It’s anyone’s guess who’s next in the business. Although I’d love to say Flair Airlines is out of the woods, I don’t think they are in much better shape only having the ‘first out’ advantage. Anyone wanna start an airline? End of day 1 at Farnborough airshow #FIA2024. Great meeting old friends and making new connections. Execs still talking of good times and demand exceeding 2019. In contrast, Ryanair reporting a 15% drop in average fares with “pricing continuing to deteriorate”, Air Canada reporting overcapacity and a drop in pricing power while forecasting a 42% drop in operating income, and United reporting pressure on yields and a need to trim capacity from mid-august (still in the summer peak), amongst negative outlooks from other major carriers around the US and Europe. As I commented in an interview article in October 2023, the party is likely to be over by mid 2024. That forecast seems to be playing out as predicted. #RYANAIR, #AIRCANADA, #UNITED Mark Pilling Graham Dunn Edward Russell Max Kingsley-Jones FlightGlobal Airline Business Skift Aviation International News Aviation Week Network AirlineReporter Airfinance Journal Reuters BBC News Bloomberg News CNBC Financial Times CNN WirtschaftsWoche Handelsblatt

If you're flying anywhere this summer and need to make a connection en route, maybe give yourself an extra hour over and above the minimum connection time if you're flying Air Canada or WestJet. And if you're flying Porter, make it an extra two and a half hours. And if you value on-time performance, try Delta or United. This little analysis is courtesy of an R script I wrote analyzing the estimated on-time performance of 10 airlines at seven major Canadian airports, including their subsidiaries and feeder partners. You can find the original script on my MyCompiler page at https://lnkd.in/gaDmFBcm

CEO Aviation consulting & Tourism growth, government strategy & policy, data analytics, evaluating air travel insights to promote sustainable advantage and green technology for transport network resilience.
Market dominance, hub-centricity, and high point-to-point airfares, are typically key ingredients inviting new competition. On my Australia City presence post last week https://lnkd.in/gTvPWf3r, market power of the Qantas Group (#Qantas/ #Jetstar) at around 62% of all seat capacity, and dominance in every major Australian city was evident. Australia has some competition with #Virgin, #Rex and others. For New Zealand, the domestic airline competitive landscape is evident in the chart below. Scheduled seat capacity is at around 85%-86% for the national airline on an annualized basis. #Regional city reliance on a single #airline with a dominant #hub structure, would typically trigger a government's interest for an objective and forward-thinking national aviation #strategy. EAC has this rare combination of industry capability and proven experience.
