Growing in Sedona, Arizona you might find cacti, yucca, succulents—and electric vehicles. 🚗 The city of Sedona found new ways to build their EV charging capacity through participation in the U.S. Department of Energy’s Clean Energy to Communities (C2C) peer-learning cohorts, which WRI's Energy Team supports alongside the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. The C2C cohort helped Sedona: • Consider safety needs for EV infrastructure. 🔌 • Envision how to incorporate flexibility into building codes. 🏢 • Expand its network of connections across the state and beyond. 🤝 Learn more:

In order to see electric vehicle adoption accelerate, we need a widespread, equitable, and accessible charging infrastructure network! Lacey Shaver, Joseph Womble, Katrina McLaughlin and I recently led a second cohort of local governments around this topic as part of U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)'s Clean Energy to Communities program in partnership with National Renewable Energy Laboratory. We learned a lot throughout the process, and we're hopeful those learnings can be applicable to other local governments and transportation planners working on decarbonization. You can view a summary of the resources and cohort learnings here: https://lnkd.in/gstmMm_u

PV + EV = ⚡ The colocated solar carport + EV charging trend is only starting. While some may discredit it as another greenwashing initiative ("the solar panels don't directly power the EV chargers anyway"), we see it more as the latest illustration of clean electricity generation and consumption at the grid edge. As usually in these emerging trends (otherwise we wouldn't have a job), business models are complex and depend highly on market structure, site configuration, and traffic / vehicle duty cycle. Happy to discuss further your growth strategy, commercial due diligence, and investment banking needs on this exciting space!

“Today, the planning and zoning approval processes used for siting and installing EV chargers are overly complex, opaque, and difficult to navigate, resulting in unnecessary delays and high costs. By providing streamlined, transparent, and predictable processes, municipalities can save money and hasten EV charging infrastructure improvements, while also making progress towards their climate goals.” -- EJ Klock-McCook, principal on RMI’s Carbon-Free Transportation team We’ve partnered with Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC) to release “Planning and Zoning Guidance for Electric Vehicle Charger Deployment," a guidance document that describes the urgent need to strengthen #EV #charging #infrastructure and outlines actionable recommendations #municipalities can take to develop and implement their strategies. #transportation #climate https://lnkd.in/gA8CRbAP

Great article about Paired Power by Emily Newton published in EEPower featuring the immense value of PairTree EV charging infrastructure. A snippet from the piece: "Numerous arguments surrounding building up charging infrastructure revolve around the antiquated grid’s ability to sustain a predominantly electrified population. PairTree eliminates this argument by installing an awning-like solar canopy above chargers, which uses renewable power from the sun to fuel the unit. This off-grid infrastructure will best support microgrids." https://lnkd.in/ghPyp5WA
