What an incredible experience walking alongside the Warriors float during the Juneteenth parade on June 8th, 2024! Juneteenth, a blend of "June" and "nineteenth," marks a pivotal moment in our history. It's commonly believed to be the day enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas became free, however around that time it's when they came to learn of their freedom. While Juneteenth is when the emancipation was enforced, the reality is that African Americans were legally freed about two and a half years earlier, on January 1, 1863, with the Emancipation Proclamation. This underscores a crucial point: knowledge is power. Understanding historical truths and current regulations empowers us to navigate and transform our world. This belief drives my commitment to supporting small businesses through advocacy, mentorship, and stewardship. I firmly hold to the principle of "each one, teach one," and it was heartwarming to see so many beautiful faces at the parade yesterday. Thank you, Warriors, for the invite! Let's continue driving change and supporting small businesses in the Bay Area through educational programs, mentorship, access to funding, increased visibility, and creating contract opportunities. Together, we can make a significant impact! #Juneteenth #SupportSmallBusiness #Advocacy #Mentorship #KnowledgeIsPower #EachOneTeachOne #Ifyoudontknownowyouknow #CommunityEmpowerment #BayArea #Warriors

It has only been a few years since Juneteenth officially became a United States National Holiday, so some companies may still be deciding how they can best integrate and celebrate this national holiday throughout their companies. Here are some ideas to help get you started: 1. Volunteer as a company at a local event 2. Sponsor a Juneteenth event in your community 3. Expand your company's DEI efforts 4. Invite a civil rights or racial justice professional speaker to come and talk to your organization Happy Juneteenth everyone! The original concept for this post, and some of the ideas were taken from this article: https://lnkd.in/gC5vYHkm.

*BC-C Minority Christians' Eagerness to Preserve the Self-Respect Struggle of Christians* Justice done to a community in minority quota is not done to us BCC minority Christians Justice done to SCs is not done to BC-C Christians Justice done to other castes in BCs is not done to BC-C minority Christians. The justice that is being done to the upper castes is not being done to the BC-C minority Christians. For the last seventy years, we have remained a vote bank where social justice has not been done. Justice is being done to everyone around us, but we still have to wait for justice. People who don't do justice to us are coming to our churches and asking for our vote. Why don't we question people who don't do social justice to us? It is only when questioned that our social class is recognized and justice is given to us. S Jayakant was a Christian minority rights activist.

The term "school-to-prison pipeline" is frequently mentioned, yet as African Americans, we may not fully grasp its severity or its detrimental impact on our communities and children. Listen as I share a personal experience of witnessing a black boy subjected to severe punishment that was truly unjustifiable. This one incident sheds light on one aspect of this troubling phenomenon. If you've been following along, you know my E-Book, Raising Brilliant Black Boys: Strategies to Disrupt the School-to-Prison Pipeline, will be released on February 15th. Celebrating Juneteenth Juneteenth marks a pivotal moment in American history, commemorating June 19, 1865, the day when Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, landed at Galveston, Texas, with news that the Civil War had ended and the enslaved were now free. This announcement came a full two and a half years after President Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation had officially outlawed slavery in Confederate territories. The delay in the enforcement of the Proclamation highlights the deep-seated resistance to ending slavery and the complexities involved in applying federal laws across a fractured nation. The first celebration of Juneteenth was one of both profound joy and cautious optimism. The newly freed African Americans of Galveston rejoiced in the streets, their celebrations a powerful act of communal catharsis. However, this newfound freedom was tempered by the uncertainty of how true emancipation would unfold in the years to come. Despite the challenges they faced, including segregation, economic disparity, and the long struggle for civil rights, Juneteenth has remained a symbol of resilience and hope. It is a day to reflect on the bitter history of slavery, to celebrate the strides toward equality, and to renew the commitment to fighting against systemic injustices. This holiday serves not only as a reminder of past pain but also as an inspiration to strive for a brighter, more inclusive future. National Youth Advocate Program was founded by Dr. Mubarak Awad in 1978. Dr. Awad has committed his life to peace, advocacy and non-violence. Dr. Awad's vision and advocacy toward peace remain deeply rooted in NYAP's mission, vision, values and culture. Among Dr. Awad's many life accomplishments, he is also the founder of Nonviolence International. As our world feels uncertain and violence is ever-present, we commit to advocacy and the promotion of peace. Today, we share these resources from Nonviolence International in hopes that we each do our small part to help create a more peaceful world. "At this time of crisis, we seek new ways to collaborate across divisions that have too long limited us. It seems we are coming apart, just when we need to come together. The problems we face are vast, but we know we are stronger together. And together, we commit to rising to this moment through creative constructive nonviolent action."
