How to order an ordinary #beer in #Switzerland. An expression that shows signs of the Swiss capability to differentiate on the basis of #quality and #taste: “Eine Stange bitte” I personally have considered this typical #Swiss expression effective and to the point. The “Eine Stange bitte” translates into “please an ordinary beer”. The expression is commonly used to obtain a beer, generally neutral in taste, possibly refreshing. And whatever brand, because it does not matter, they all taste the same. Is this not to the point? At the same time, Swiss people have a high capability of recognizing quality and taste. During my beer #degustations, we have observed multiple times people approaching #craftbrewing as first-timers, when they are invited to taste a real beer. We observe how people smile after their first sip and how they describe flavors and aromas that are in their beer glasses. Most of the time, their articulated description of the beer matches the one we have got and is still not described to them. Swiss expression “eine Stange bitte” is therefore a way to differentiate a beer that is neutral and mainstream from one that is good and special. #fermentobrewery, #beerindustry, #culture
