At work, it matters who you rub shoulders with And how you interact makes a difference Just look around your office/studio/workplace now and ask yourself What is each person’s super power? What are they good at? Unique at? Skilled or experienced at? You’ll start your notice trends And understand how they work well within and compliment the team They have something unique that makes them who they are They have something different that makes your team better Now ask yourself, what am I good at? How do I fit in? And what do I do that makes a difference to those around me? How do I fit, help, support, add value? What perspective or experience do I give? See, you’re unique too! Recognise the fact that there are some great people Right in front of you Doing great work Making sh*t happen So go tell them Let them know how great they are How they make your life easier What a difference they have made to a project Don’t make things up, be honest Don’t make it weird, sometimes a simple ‘thank you’ will do But make them feel appreciated, heard, valued Sometimes the smallest things we do Have the biggest impact on others Your words and actions matter!

Stop calling your employees a family! Families don’t let people go. Families don’t get paid to perform. Families don’t track performance. And you sure as hell don’t leave your family to go join another. You are a TEAM. Trying to achieve goals together. One where everyone has to pull their weight. So employers, stop the “We’re a family” BS. Be authentic. You’re a team.

5 Ways To Team Build *** What does it take to build a strong, cohesive team? You have the groundwork laid. And it’s a firm foundation. 1. Host get-togethers outside of the office 2. Get rid of office contests 3. Have celebrations and parties 4. Hold lunch and learns 5. Create anonymous shout-outs: Every time a team member sees another team member doing something awesome, they can write a note that will be celebrated in front of the whole team. This lets people know others are noticing the hard work they’re doing and it’s appreciated

Used to suffer these daily meetings in an old job and can genuinely think of nothing worse as a team member (and I once had a job collecting trolleys in Winter at Makro). - Micro management - Task disruption - Perceived lack of trust from manager - Making up things to do that won't need explaining or provoke further questions so I can get on with it. Some of my team aren't morning people. Others are spending a few months working in a completely different timezone. I let them get on with it. No shots fired. It's just how I choose to do things and we still get great results from a happy team.
