The Coolest Way to Travel
Big Ass Fans Powerfoil Breeze in Blue Grass Airport (LEX)

The Coolest Way to Travel

Travel is a hassle; let’s face it. The preparation, packing, time management, airport chaos, the list goes on. But the thing we seldom plan for, and often complain about, is our own thermal comfort. Whether you’re too hot rushing to your gate, or too cool waiting to board your flight, Big Ass Fans is there to help.

Being from Lexington, KY, we wanted to make sure Blue Grass Airport (LEX) was well equipped to keep travelers comfortable as they make their journey to and through our neck of the woods. Blue Grass now has a Powerfoil® Breeze overhead fan, as well as several AirEye® and Black Jack® directional fans, perfectly placed to provide airflow where it’s needed most.

At home and abroad you can find Big Ass fans welcoming travelers in airports–not just for their cooling comfort, but also for energy savings. With the airflow of 10 Essence® fans, Darwin International Airport (DRW) in Australia was able to raise the thermostat set point by 10 °F (2 °C), saving over $40,000 in energy costs per year. And in the Dominican Republic, Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ)  installed over 35 Big Ass fans across its international terminals, creating a 10 °F cooling effect that keeps passengers comfortable and increases the natural flow of air in and out of the building.

(Fun fact, PUJ has one of our most-recognized installations by travelers around the world. Customers tell us all the time that this is where they first saw, and felt, a Big Ass fan.)

But if you’re not quite the world traveler you aspire to be, or simply prefer to stay closer to home, you can also find Big Ass fans in many stateside airports like Chicago O’Hare, Harry Reid in Las Vegas, Charlotte, LaGuardia, and more!

Does your local airport have Big Ass Fans keepin’ it cool?

LEX / Bluegrass Airport is a gem of a small airport and local Lexington treasure. As someone who spent years with a firm traveling across the US and Canada and visiting what seemed like all small regional airports, our LEX is amazing. A true gem, even before you weigh in the views on take off and landing as well as the Big Ass Fan addition too.
