Big Ass Fans is the industry leader in air movement and thermal comfort, which, in addition to good marketing and quality products, can be attributed to our 45,000-sq.-ft. LEED® Gold certified Research & Development (R&D) laboratory.

The only lab like it in the world, R&D was designed for the unique requirements and challenges of testing High Volume Low Speed (HVLS) industrial fans. The distinctive attributes of the AMCA-accredited lab allow our team of engineers to conduct fan performance testing, including fan-generated air velocity profiles, fatigue testing of complete fan assemblies and components, and prototype builds of the newest HVLS fan designs.

Constructed over a decade ago, R&D was designed with our unwavering commitment to sustainability in mind. During building, nine percent fewer construction materials were used and 51 percent less landfill waste was generated than typical construction projects. And still today, R&D uses 35 percent less energy and 58 percent less water than an equivalent building.

Not only is our world-class facility energy efficient, our products are too. The precision engineering of our fans results in a quantifiably sustainable product. These ideas come about in response to the requirements and challenges presented to us by our customers. Big Ass fans allow customers to adjust their thermostat setpoint in summer, we engineer products capable of reducing energy costs today and in the future – a prerequisite for building products engineered to last.
