Meet the Citi Finance Team - Tomasz Olowski, Warsaw Team Head

Tell us a little bit about your career history so far!

I joined Citibank 20+ years ago as an analyst in the Treasury department. I worked in Operations and Finance, and for the past 15+ years I was responsible for migration projects and consolidation / coordination of the financial reporting processes in Warsaw.

What is your role at Citi? 

I am the Local Finance Team Head helping the team to develop the best solutions in cooperation with our regional and global counterparts. I am also responsible for coordinating efforts and tasks with our Regional Senior Management of the respective business areas.

What is your typical workday like?

I used to be an analyst and team leader and most of my day was dedicated to financial reporting, reconciliations and process improvements. Now my day consists of numerous meetings (in person or virtual) related to team management, strategic solutions, issues remediation. I also find time to catch up with colleagues on the floor, have a coffee or lunch with the team or participate in a volunteering event organized by us.

What have you enjoyed most about your time with Citi?

Citi is a global company and one of the world’s most recognized brands. Our team is very diverse, and we work with people from across the world day-to-day. If you are open to the new challenges this job gives you a lot of opportunities – I also had the chance to work in Costa Rica for half a year. And the biggest strength of Citi are people – skilled, open-minded and friendly. I could always count on the members of my team.

What advice would you give someone considering a career in this field?

Be open-minded and ready to grab the opportunities. If you have great ideas and would like to challenge the world around you, be brave enough and make it happen.
