Penguin Random House Acquires Hay House

Penguin Random House has acquired the independent U.S. book publisher Hay House. Hay House is one of the leading publishers of self-help, health, and wellness books in the U.S. and publishes around 100 new titles a year. The publisher has long been a customer of PRH subsidiary Penguin Random House Publisher Services (PRHPS).

Penguin Random House has acquired independent book publisher Hay House, one of the leading U.S. publishers of self-help, health, and wellness books. Hay House has been a customer of PRH subsidiary Penguin Random House Publisher Services (PRHPS), which handles the distribution of the Hay House catalog, for many years. Now, as Penguin Random House writes in the announcement, the publisher can “ further leverage the resources and gold-standard capabilities of the world’s largest trade book publisher to reach even more audiences and further elevate its authors.”

As further announced by Nihar Malaviya, CEO of Penguin Random House, and Reid Tracy, CEO of Hay House, in New York on Tuesday, Hay House will retain its editorial and publishing independence post-acquisition, and Tracy will continue to lead the publishing house as CEO. No changes are planned for the Hay House offices in Carlsbad (California), New York, and London, nor for the management and employees.

Founded in 1984 by Louise Hay, whose bestselling book “You Can Heal Your Life” is seen as one of the most important works of the modern self-help movement in the U.S. her legendary, Hay House is a leading independent book publisher, with renowned expertise in the mind-body-spirit, health and wellness, and self-help space. The company distinguishes itself from other traditional publishers with its offerings of transformative online courses, virtual events, as well as a highly rated “You Can Heal Your Life” podcast and the audio content app “Empower You.” Penguin Random House notes that Hay House is known across the industry for its bespoke subject focus and marketing ability, which create brand recognition and loyalty among its readers.

The rapidly growing imprint publishes more than 100 titles a year and has a backlist of more than 1,500 titles from authors and teachers such as Dr. Mindy Pelz, Dr. Wayne Dyer, Iyanla Vanzant, Suze Orman, Dr. Joe Dispenza, Jerry and Esther Hicks, David Hawkins, Gabrielle Bernstein, Colette Baron-Reid, Rebecca Campbell, Kyle Gray, Lewis Howes, Jim Kwik, Brendon Burchard, Dan Sullivan, Chris Wark and Anthony William.
