SJUK Security Spotlight: Recruit, retain, train; A new era of intelligent video monitoring systems!

Recruit, retain, train

Recruit, retain, train

The more we as providers and businesses support a verified, clear security training pathway, the easier it will be to recruit, retain and prepare tomorrow’s security professionals to mitigate threats of all kinds and levels, says Rhiannon Limbert, PerpetuityARC Training .

A robust security industry provides many benefits to modern society, maintaining safety and peace for a nation’s citizens.

However, despite this crucial role, it continues to be stressed and stretched by demand.

Whilst we can discuss all the evolving threats, it would be better to focus on the things we can do to support our sector.

Creating confidence with Artificial Intelligence

Jonathon Squires , Head of Technology Partnerships and Enterprise Solutions at Synectics , examines the role Artificial Intelligence (AI) plays in public space surveillance.

Public space surveillance requires significant resources.

Operators continually monitoring feeds from hundreds of cameras spread across our towns and cities can easily suffer from observational fatigue, leading to missed incidents or slow response times and seriously impacting people’s safety.

AI-driven video analytics offers a straightforward solution by automating risk detection and dramatically speeding up surveillance footage interrogation.

Finding the balance between protection and usability in access control

Like the rest of society, the security industry must ensure we take responsibility for sustainability through the technology we use and the energy and materials it consumes.

We can all play our part – manufacturers, installers/specifiers and operators – in making security more sustainable.

CO2 emissions are a prime concern, with research from the World Meteorological Organisation showing that climate change accelerated significantly between 2011 and 2020.

Project Focus: HID announces new integration partnership with Microsoft

HID has integrated with Microsoft Entra ID to enable employees to use their existing physical access cards as a multi-factor authentication (MFA) method to access Entra ID and Microsoft 365.

According to the partnership, this enables organisations to take the next step on their journey to passwordless by simplifying MFA deployment and enabling faster end-user adoption for Entra ID users.

The integration expands options for organisations to tailor their MFA journey while meeting Microsoft’s mandatory MFA requirements and accelerating the path to phishing-resistant passwordless authentication.

“Deploying MFA is one of the most important steps to securing user identities and the purpose of Microsoft Entra ID External Authentication Method (EAM) is to extend the purpose of Entra ID’s functionality by enabling organisations to use the third-party MFA solution of their choosing to establish quick, simple and secure MFA,” said Eleanor Falla, Senior Product Manager for Microsoft Security.
