🚀 Thrilled to be selected for the EU-funded journey with 15 dynamic start-up and grown-up companies to Austin, Texas! Our trip in June 2024 has been packed with invaluable learning and know-how exchange. During this journey, we gained deep insights into potential market entry in the US, cutting-edge business development methods, and the current state of AI and blockchain technology in the US. We had the incredible opportunity to present our business ideas to various experts, student teams, and a group of European deep tech pioneers from Italy, Turkey, Romania, Norway, Ireland, and Germany. Highlights of our trip included: - Networking with US and European start-ups already established in Austin. - Visiting Dell, headquartered in Austin for over 30 years. - Sessions on product development through experimentation and innovative business models, particularly focused on service and after-sales revenue generation. - Engaging discussions at Texas State University with MBA classes specializing in AI for managers, business modeling, and innovation. - Learning from accelerators about start-up support for entering the US market. This journey provided us with a comprehensive understanding of the US market, the Austin region as a rapidly growing start-up hub, and the unique US approach to identifying market potential and scaling businesses. Moreover, meeting fellow founders from across Europe, the dedicated organizers from AIBC Euroclusters and Juergen Jaehnert bwcon and Prof. Dr. Bernhard Koelmel made this trip incredibly valuable. 🌍 Unforgettable Journey: AIBC Euroclusters Mission to Austin 🌏 👇 ✅ Day 1: Exploring Austin's Innovation Hub ➖ Our adventure kicked off at the Texas State Capitol, the heart of the state's government. The morning buzzed with energy as we met with CEOs Doug Heady, Andy Keil, and Anthony Lamot from 3 Startups Tech at WeWork in Downtown Austin. They shared fascinating insights on how indirect yet friendly communication with partners in Austin differs from the European style. ➖ Next, we traveled to San Marcos for a mouth-watering BBQ lunch. The afternoon was packed with knowledge as Bernhard Koelmel led a workshop on the latest AI and Blockchain trends at McCoy College of Business. We wrapped up the day with an exciting matchmaking session with students from the AI and Design Thinking classes, challenging companies with innovative ideas, and enjoyed a refreshing swim at Sewell Park. ✅ Day 2: Diving into Dell Technologies and Local Innovations ➖ The second day began at Dell Technologies Headquarters in Round Rock, where we had a productive discussion with John Howard and YJ Lin about opportunities for startups in this vibrant ecosystem. After savoring a classic Tex-Mex lunch in San Marcos, we participated in an interactive panel and workshop led by Seal Bauld, Brandi Beasley, and Shree Moorthy, discussing AI trends and local initiatives. ➖ The day concluded with a compelling presentation of the AIBC Euroclusters Project by Fondazione Piemonte Innova and bwcon, followed by a lively matchmaking session where executive students engaged with funded companies about their cutting-edge solutions and technologies. Day 3: Insights and Future Connections ✅ Our final day featured an inspiring talk by Jack Whelan from the International Accelerator in Austin, offering valuable advice on how non-US companies and startups can break into the local market and scale their businesses. ➖ In the afternoon, Garry White, Associate Professor at Texas State University, shared his extensive research on security curriculum and analytics. The official program concluded with a stimulating discussion led by Dean Dr. Sanjay Ramchander and Associate Dean Dr. Diego Vacaflores of McCoy College of Business.
