About us

The mission of the Delaware Department of Labor, Division of Employment & Training (DET), is "to provide services enabling employers and job seekers to make informed employment and training choices leading to employment." DET operates a statewide labor exchange system serving both employers and job seekers. The division also administers 15 different federal and state-funded employment and training programs that assist individuals with social, economic, educational, and other barriers to make the transition to employment. DET has four full-service delivery locations throughout the state. Each One-Stop office has computers that provide our customers with access to the internet, a 'resource room,' and clients may be offered core services, intensive services, and/or training services.

  • 𝐎*𝐍𝐞𝐭 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 The O*NET® team has designed a set of self-directed career exploration/assessment tools to help workers consider and plan career options, preparation, and transitions more effectively. They also are designed for use by students who are exploring the school-to-work transition. The assessment instruments, which are based on a "whole-person" concept, are grouped into two major families: - 𝗢*𝗡𝗘𝗧 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗿 - 𝗢*𝗡𝗘𝗧 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 These instruments will help individuals identify their work-related interests and what they consider important on the job to explore occupations that relate most closely to those attributes. Users of the tools may link to the more than 950 occupations described by the O*NET database, as well as to occupational information in CareerOneStop. This allows individuals to make a seamless transition from assessing their interests and work values to matching their job skills with the requirements of occupations in their local labor market. A survey of unemployed workers done by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce found that roughly half (49%) of American workers are not willing to take jobs that do not offer the opportunity for remote work. Almost a quarter (24%) say government aid packages during the pandemic have incentivized them to not actively look for work, and more than a quarter (26%) say it will never again be essential for them to return to work.
