24th September is “World Cancer Research Day”. As oncology dietitians, we want to highlight how important it is to have greater diversity of populations in cancer research to ensure we can prevent more cancers and improve quality of life and survival rates for those affected by it.

🤝 EFAD was pleased to be part of the 46th ESPEN - European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism 2024 Congress in Milan, with #dietitians making significant contributions alongside leading scientists, physicians, and pharmacists. 👏🏻 Prof. Marian de van der Schueren, EFAD Honorary Fellow, was named an Honorary Member of ESPEN for her outstanding contributions to the Global Leadership Initiative on #Malnutrition #GLIM. Marian also shared exciting first results on defining a new conceptual definition of malnutrition risk, a crucial step forward in clinical nutrition. 💡 During the congress, Dr. Nicole Erickson Erickson, ESDN Oncology Lead, delivered an insightful presentation on the importance of involving family members in shared decision-making for #patientcare. 🏅 The 16th edition of the Medical Nutrition International Industry (MNI) Grant was awarded to the initiative “Taking the GLIM Framework from Research into Clinical Practice: A Swedish Initiative,” led by Sandra Einarsson from Umeå University, Sweden (EFAD's Education Associate Member). 🙏🏻 EFAD also takes this opportunity to express gratitude to Rocco Barazzoni for his leadership and looks forward to continuing our collaboration with ESPEN under its new chairman, Stanislaw Klek.
