"In this world it is so easy to exclude people, it so easy to exclude people based on colour, based on race, based on religion, based on sexuality... True love and true acceptance open the door for people to come in and sit at the table prepared by our Loving God." - Rev. "And so the work of the ACT Alliance is a continuation of this sign, working with hope to make the world more just, mobilising different resources to make change possible, giving everyone space around the table to hear their voice, to reshape our perspectives and forms of cooperation, daring to see and engage in new partnerships." - Annie Solis Escalante, Methodist Church of Peru ACT Alliance 2024 General Assembly #TheRoad2Equality #HopeInAction #GA2024 #TogetherForJustice #Peru #FaithInGenderJustice #SDG5 #SDG17 #Partnerships

"One thing I found so powerful was the call to men and boys during the Assembly to join us as comrades and allies in gender justice. We need to come together if we are to have any hope in reducing polarisation and dismantling more conservative ideologies around gender. Another message was clear to me throughout the #ACTAlliance Assembly – dialogue, dialogue, dialogue. We have to keep the conversation going and never loose hope that we can achieve our mission of gender justice for all." - Jacinta Harford, Australian Lutheran World Service & Asia-Pacific Gender Justice Community of Practice Co-Chair #TheRoad2Equality #FaithInGenderJustice #SDG17 #Australia #Masculinities #Dialogue #SDG5 #TogetherForJustice #GenderJustice

Polarisation tends to manifest itself more violently around gender. Brazilian pastor and Executive Secretary of the Fundação Luterana de Diaconia, Rev. Cibele Kuss, contributed to a critical conversation at the ACT Alliance General Assembly on countering polarisation and fundamentalisms. Rev. Kuss referred to the role of men: "I want to call on men to take responsibility to reduce polarization around gender. It is urgent that they decolonise their masculinity." "Decolonisation is not just about external change, it's about internal transformation. Breaking free from mimicked oppression and embracing our true identities, cultures and perspectives." Some of the reflections shared at the ACT Alliance #GenderJustice exhibition booth: 👉 The power of locally led action to transform gender unjust structures and social norms, including in our own organisations. 👉 The value of solidarity practices across countries, regions, and globally, to go further and faster on #TheRoad2Equality. 👉 The importance of faith-based actors and methodologies to counter backlashes on gender equality, and push forward, to affirm human rights and #GenderJustice. 👉 The critical role of youth representatives, who are not only future leaders, but are leading gender-transformative action today, making connections between gender, climate, and peace. 👉 The gender-transformative power of co-leadership, which our hosts YAKKUM Emergency Unit, demonstrated in abundance. #FaithInGenderJustice #ACTAlliance #TogetherForGenderJustice #TheRoad2Equality #SDG5 #SDG17 #ThankYou
