  • Our Mission: A Safer Future for Afghan Mothers and Babies 🤱 Afghanistan holds one of the world's highest maternal mortality rates, with a staggering 638 deaths per 100,000 births. Since 2021, the training opportunities for women in healthcare roles have diminished, threatening the lives of countless mothers and newborns. But there's hope—and you can help make a difference. Since 2014, AfD has been working to address this crisis head-on. Our specialized midwifery training program has already equipped over 950 midwives with essential skills, and in 2024, we launched a midwife-led inpatient maternity service as part of our Community Health Center in North Kabul. This initiative provides Afghan women with safe and accessible maternal care, significantly reducing health risks for mothers and newborns alike. Why Your Support Matters—All Year Round Your donation helps provide safe delivery care for 20 women per month, ensuring they have the skilled support they need for a safe birth experience. ➡ Empower 150+ Women with Antenatal & Postnatal Care Funds enable over 150 women each month to access essential antenatal and postnatal care, supporting their journey to motherhood with dignity and safety. ➡ Train 60 Midwives Annually & Reach More Professionals With your help, we can continue training 60 midwives each year in advanced techniques, while extending our program to benefit another 200 healthcare professionals in Kabul and Parwan provinces. ➡ Track Changing Needs Through annual needs assessments, we're constantly adapting to meet the evolving healthcare demands for Afghan women, creating responsive programs that make a lasting impact. Every donation fuels our capacity to serve mothers and newborns in Afghanistan, where trained midwives often represent the only female healthcare providers in their communities. Together, we can make birth safer, improve maternal health outcomes, and uplift Afghan families at a time when it's desperately needed. Let’s keep the spirit of Giving Tuesday alive beyond today! Your contribution—no matter the size—drives meaningful, lasting change for Afghan women and their children. 🇦🇫 In Afghanistan, many children—especially orphans, street-working children, and girls supporting their families—face significant barriers to schooling. To bridge this gap, we provide free education, school supplies, and daily meals in our community schools. Our programs help children develop literacy, numeracy, and social skills, preparing them for integration into the public school system. We also offer teacher training, family support, and physical activities, creating a holistic learning environment. 🎓 We’ve seen real progress: students advancing in their studies, teachers receiving specialized training, and families benefiting from winter aid. Education is more than learning, it’s hope, opportunity, and a path to a better future ✨ #EducationForAll #ActionForDevelopment #Afghanistan

  • Benafsha, a mother of five, has relied on the local health facility for over six years. Her experience reflects the profound impact of accessible healthcare in a community where medical services can be scarce. During her pregnancies, the facility provided free vitamins and anemia prevention tablets, offering crucial support to Benafsha and many others. The female gynecologist at the clinic was there for her, guiding her through pre- and postnatal care, even assisting with deliveries—although for night shifts, Benafsha would travel to a hospital in Kabul. 🩺 Now, Benafsha brings her children to the clinic for vaccinations and regular check-ups. The dedicated staff, including the vaccinator, always ensures she’s reminded when it’s time for the next vaccine. ➡️ For Benafsha, this facility isn’t just a place for medical care—it’s a source of support and community. Her relatives, who live far away and have to travel two hours on foot to the nearest clinic, also rely on this health facility whenever they visit. In a country where access to healthcare can be limited, this clinic represents more than just treatment—it symbolizes hope and compassion.

  • Malnutrition remains a critical challenge in Afghanistan, with 41% of children under five experiencing stunting—a condition that impairs growth and development. Additionally, 9.5% of these children suffer from wasting, the most severe form of acute malnutrition. The situation is exacerbated by economic challenges and reductions in international aid, leading many families to subsist on minimal nutrition. In response, Action for Development is dedicated to improving nutrition among Afghanistan's most vulnerable populations. Through community-based programs, we provides essential health and nutrition services, focusing on maternal and child health. By empowering local communities and promoting sustainable practices, we aim to combat malnutrition and foster healthier futures. Source: UNICEF  Learn more: https://lnkd.in/dwuQsCQG

  • Education is a powerful tool for change. Yet, in Afghanistan, millions of children face immense barriers to accessing the education they deserve. The Reality 👇 - Many children, especially girls, are unable to attend school due to economic, social, and logistical challenges. - Schools often lack essential resources—teachers, materials, and infrastructure—to provide quality education. - The growing impact of crises, including poverty and displacement, continues to widen the gap between children and their dreams of learning. 📣 These challenges don’t just affect individuals—they impact entire communities and the future of the nation. But education is also the solution. It breaks cycles of poverty, fosters resilience, and builds pathways to a brighter future. At Action for Development, we believe that every child has the right to learn, no matter the circumstances. We are working to: - Provide resources to underserved schools. - Support families so children can focus on learning instead of survival. The time to act is now. Together, we can ensure that education remains a priority and that no child is left behind. #EducationForAll #AdvocacyForEducation #Afghanistan #ActionForDevelopment
