    📢FEMA Region 2 is hiring! We’re looking for our next Emergency Management Specialist/Private Sector Liaison (GS-0089-13). This position is within the National Preparedness Division, Planning & Capacity Building Branch, in New York, NY. What will I do in this position if hired? In this role, you will directly engage private sector stakeholders in emergency management preparedness planning and operations. Typical assignments include: ·      Supporting and promoting private sector participation in preparedness initiatives, trainings, exercises and continuity of operations. ·      Identifying and supporting opportunities to engage private sector stakeholders to leverage and incorporate private sector resources and capabilities into emergency planning efforts and foster best practices and strategic approaches to strengthen agency core competencies and support achieving the FEMA mission. ·      Assisting in designing, developing, implementing, and supporting private sector engagement and outreach programs to enhance regional Public Private Partnerships. ·      Developing and maintaining functional relationships with private sector stakeholders, industry associations, and non-governmental organizations. ·      Organizing and coordinating briefings to support senior staff and management with background information on matters related to communicating, coordinating and collaborating with private sector organizations. In this position, you will work with a team of environmental & historic preservation (EHP) specialists conducting historic preservation compliance reviews, providing technical assistance to States, Tribes, and Local (SL TT) Governments for the Public Assistance Grant Program (PA), the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) and other project grants as needed. This position will primarily focus on evaluating buildings and structures for eligibility on the National Register of Historic Places, assessing effects and resolving adverse effects to historic buildings and structures, coordinating with the other groups within the EHP branch and Mitigation Division, advising applicants on historic preservation compliance needs, writing consultation letters to regulatory offices (State Historic Preservation Office, etc.), writing Memorandums of Agreement and other duties as needed. This role will be within the Mitigation Division, Environmental Planning and Historic Preservation Branch in Albany, NY. Reviewing actions for compliance with NHPA Section 106 during the Response to and/or Recovery from disasters; and for Mitigation, and other non-disaster actions. Supporting multiple and varied collective efforts (sometimes simultaneously) while adhering to set schedules and priorities. Conducting analysis to document impacts to the cultural and historic resources; drafts consultations, writes reports, documents findings and determinations, and Records of Environmental Consideration (RECs).
